Anyone seeing ammo on the shelves of Walmarts in metro LA/OC area? Seems San Diego is becoming well stocked.

Well, specifically the Walmarts off the 210 freeways are always out of stock of every popular caliber ammunition! But I score sometimes, luckily I have a 9mm because it seems like people walk by look through the window and just leave. I guess it pays to have a macho .45! But I shoot 12 gauge now!

I haven't find any pistol ammo at the three Walmarts that's close to my range/work (Monrovia, La Puente, Brea). However, just few weeks ago I found 6 boxes of 9mm federal from Anaheim. That was my first walmart ammo found since 2008.

I bought the last 4 boxes wwb 9mm on tuesday at the HB walmart and they also had a ton of 40 cal.

Happened to be in the Cerritos Towne Center Wally mart two days ago and saw couple of boxes of Winchester 333 bulk packs still on the shelves around 6PM!!!

Of course I had to buy two boxes, even though I don't really need it, but who knows when's the next time I'd see bulk packs?

I didn't buy out their supply, I left about 8 - 10 boxes on the shelves.

I have not seen any handgun ammo at the store by me in Rancho Cucamonga for about a year. They have plenty of .223 all the time but that's about it.

i have been to the Walmart in Cerritos towne center, Buena Park Megaplex, and the one in Anahiem mall area. I was looking for .40 cal and i found only 3 boxes at the Anaheim walmart next to the 5 freeway. I bought them last week so they might have restocked.

With wally its hit and miss. i havent seen 9mm ammo ther efor at least a year and a half then all of the sudden 20 boxes. I picked up 10. i woudl fo picked up the other 10 but the guy behind me wanted some too. his jaw dropped when i said Ill take all 20 (I was just messing with him) We got to talking and he said that he hasnt seen any in about 2 years. We talked to the guy at the counter and he said 9 and 45 seem to go as fast as he gets them on the shelf.
What i dont understand why walmart doesnt jsut order a crap load of it since it seems to sell fast

Was at San Diego Walmart (claremont) and up in West Covina a number of times.... no 9mm. Some miserable looking birdshot and some rifle ammo is all... I want to get some 9mm at WM just so I can say I did it. Its becoming the holy grail of ammo purchases for me.

I make weekly trips to Brea and Orange walmarts. They haven't had anything (9mm .38 .357 .40 .45) on the days I've gone since November. I would love to get some shooting in but have a hard time paying $22.00+ for a box of 50 when I know walmart has it for $15.00/50. Especially in this economy.

Huntington Beach Walmart was stocked up yesterday.

No 45acp, but I walked out with Remington UMC 357magnum 100rnd Value Pack for $44.95. Seemed expensive, but when I couldn't see cheaper online, I bought it.

No 22lr either, some kids near me were looking for that.

after giving up on walmarts recently for 22lr and 9mm i found out that bass pro in rancho and turners have a whole lot of bulk pack 22lr for 20 bucks. hope this helps anyone. bass pro had 9mm but it was the usual high teens for 50 wwb vs 10 bucks from walmart. the rimfire and pistol ammo at bass pro is now behind the counter..

I got lucky at the Fontana Walmart and got a few boxes of "Federal Champion .9mm" for 50rds @ $9. I went back a few days ago and now they're stocked up with this orange box crap that goes for 50rds @ $17. Same with the Rancho Store. They have a diff brand for 9mm's stocked up, but they're freaking expensive now! Nobody wants to buy them, including me. :cool2:

Yeah, I saw that ther other day when I was down there. Unfortunatly I am usually looking for 40 or 45 and they NEVER have that in. At least Ammo Bros is close and usually has something in.

Oxnard Wally World was well stocked w/ 9mm and .40. Bought 100rnds of 9mm Remy. Must of had at least 20 boxes (50 rounds/box) left. The employee said the .45 sold out in less than 2 hrs.

Yesterday Cerritos had one box of Federal .45, and quite a few boxes of .22. They still have a ton of .223 and other rifle ammo.

There is a ton of RWS 9mm for $18 a box that is still sitting there, week #3.

I was at San Clemente Wal Mart today, they had some Rem .223 packs for 39.97 and that expensive 9mm for $16.97 in the black and orange box, some CCI .22 magnum, NO .22lr, lots of birdshot 12g shells, a good deal on 12g 9 pellet buck shot "00" buck for 9.97 or 10.97, can't remember exactly, for a 15rd pack. Orange Walmart, about the same along with the Foothill ranch wal mart.

3/15 bump

Seems the Aliso Viejo WM is beginning to look less pathetic than it has in months. Usually the weekends = bare shelves, but I actually saw a bunch of .223, 25 Auto (which never seems to move), some more expensive CCI, a bunch of birdshot of course, and some +P in .40 & .45. Winchester Supreme Elite.

I normally don't post what's out there, but it seems (@ least at this location) that some of the ridiculousness is subsiding.

Good Hunting.

Your best bet would be the Duarte Walmart which is about more/less 10 miles east on the 210fwy (mountain exit).

You should call before you go to ensure they have what you are looking for.

how come some walmarts sell ammo and some don't?

Good question, I've wondered the same. It seems that the stores located in more "suburban" areas seem to carry it, while the stores in more "urban" areas do not.

Norwalk=No, Paramount=No, Long Beach=No

La Habra=Yes, Cerritos=Yes, Simi Valley=Yes

Or it could just be that certain cities don't want them to or require extra licensing or paperwork.

It's due to the areas. There are two Walymarts near me and one does not sell ammo and the other does. Walys in a "higher" theft area excludes some products i.e. Blurays, ammo, and perhaps other "easy to steal"

doesn't make sense for ammo since it is locked behind the counter.

How much was it? I was in Lakewood today and they had a bunch of Federal .40 for $13.97 per (which I picked up). They had Remington green box 9mm, but it was $15.50 almost as pricey as the RWS 9mm for $17.00 per. I can get 9mm cheaper at the gun shows...

How much was it?

Walmart Federal 9mm box (50 count) is $9.47 each. 6 of them, depending on the sales tax, around $60 - $62 bucks OTD.

What's nice is using my brother's Walmart corporate employee discount (well, he has to buy stuff for me) since he gets 20% off anything in the store and can grab whatever he wants off the shelf and buy it for me :D. No 6 box limit either, and he can pull stuff as it gets unloaded. Only prob is he has to either ship it to me, or wait until he comes down to my place or I drive up to his place (6 hours each way :p).

Just saw maybe 5 boxes of WWB 9mm there, $13.47 a box. Not exactly a steal at that price. And that negates the Wed/Thu delivery theory. They get deliveries whenever...
