If you could choose a concealed weapon without factoring in cost, what would it be? Reasons for your choice?

nothing exotic; love my older w german P series sigs. the only "newer" gun i would look hard at in the sig line would be a P239 in 9mm; i had a G26 in the past and liked it.

My three inch pre-lock Smith and Wesson revolvers and 38/357 magnum. They are great to carry and I can shoot them very well.

The 'dream gun' doesn't exist. Like most things a gun carried is a compromise of power, weight, controllability, concealment, cost and whatever else matters to you.

My choice would be as easy to conceal and carry as a KelTec P3AT and have, as a minimum, the power of a .45 ACP - with zero recoil.

I described it, who will build it?

Does any price include getting Gaston to develop the single stack 9mm?

I'm not sure yet as I am starting the process of getting a CCW, and I'm not sure what I should get I now have an XD 9 and XD 40 in 4 in. Model and I'm thinking it's too big for me to conceal cuz I'm 6'2 and 145 lbs.

There is a sub-compact version of the XD in both 9mm and .40 if you like the XD platform.

6'2" 145 lb is a rail! you are going to need every bit of help you can in reducing the thickness department. i would suggest you look at the Kahr series of pistols if you want a decent caliber, otherwise any 380 will do if you can find the ammo. I would imagine any XD will be pretty thick to conceal on you.

On the other hand, maybe being skinny is better since you can wear baggier clothes and you have no gut/love handles to get in the way of that IWB holster.

+1 on this, or a .45 with 8 or 9 rounds in the frame of a G17 or G19. I'd buy two......

I've given this a lot of thought. While I realize that everyone has different criteria for establishing their ideal concealed carry piece, I've come up with what I'd choose. My needs? Something totally reliable, capable of shooting a wide variety of ammo in an effective caliber, accurate and concealable. It needs to be rugged and able to stand up to the various elements I'm likely to encounter. I want it to be good for urban, rural and wilderness environments. My choice? A Ruger SP101, 3 1/16" barrel, in .357 Magnum. It can be loaded with the lightest .38 Special loads all the way up to .357 Magnum heavy loads capable of taking down large animals. I would like it to be modified by Bowen Arms. They put in a rear sight that enables much better accuracy (Jeff Quinn claims 2" @ 25 yards), chamfer the cylinder chamber mouths to enable easier speed loading and do a trigger job. I would also like the hammer partially bobbed to reduce the risk of snagging when drawn while still permitting cocking for single action shots. The only compromise this choice forces on me is a reduced round capacity and slower reloading vs. semi-autos. Guess I'll just have to work on my accuracy. ;)

Still waiting for someone to develop the special button needed that when I push it on my Tomcat, it will transform quickly into a fullsize 1911. That would be about perfect. Maybe they could make one for a NAA revolver?? More than meets the eye!

Just a Glock, either compact or sub-compact. Reasons? Good magazine capacity, reliable, lightweight, and comfortable. Good ole' workhorse.

I'm low maintenance, I guess.

I carry the gun to fight with.. not that I want to fight anyone.. but I might have to so if I have to fight and I brought the gun to fight with, then I need to carry a gun that I trust in a fight... hence...a 5 in 1911 or my glock 20... I also carry a little 5 shot smith in an ankle holster... just because I can...

Guess it depends on the level of concealment needed. Holster on hip? Burried and undisoverable?

Normal carry, I like my Glock 19 9mm and would not trade it for the world.

Burried on my body, not really sure. The Bersa .380 works pretty well. It's not expensive though. Lack of night sights and low caliber both are downsides. Never been 100% happy with any deap concealment gun I've looked at. I'm still looking.

Under a Trench Coat (not realistic) an H&K MP5-K 9mm Submachine gun would be cool.

see an example here:

I love my M39's...

Either that or a Ruger redhawk 4in in 45LC with the chambers reamed by pinacle guns to also accept 45ACP moon clips... That one is in progress as we speek ;). I have a passion for 45LC guns...

We are talking CCW guns though. That is a different bird than duty guns, tactical guns, etc...

Bruce Gray longslide conversion of a P7M13.

I'm a big guy, the longslide would cover just fine, with better balance.

I've handled a LS he did on a P7M8, I've wanted one ever since.
