I have 2 1911s ( Kimber Raptor and SW 1911 ). Now I want an upgraded 1911 for this year, I am looking at Les Baer premium II $1800, SW 1911 PC $1750 or a mini Kimber Ultra Eclipse 3" barrel $900. Please poll. Thank you all.

Don't forget about Ed Brown. I just held one the other day and there's something magical about them. Held a Les Baer next. Very very nice, but not as nice as the Ed Brown.

Where are you shopping at? My vote is for Les Baer, give John at Proload a call, IIRC he had Les Baer Premier II's for ~1500-1600.

I realize it is not one of your choices, but have you looked at Springfield's TRP?

Much better gun than any of the ones you picked for several hundred LESS than Baer or SW.

That sounds like a personal choice. I disagree about it being much better than any Les Baer.

Well I can actually rack the slide on a new TRP, unlike any Baer I've played with that needs about 1,000 rounds or so through it until you can move the slide with your hands.

I've been researching my next 1911 purchase. Even on the springfield section of the 1911forum, where brand loyalty would run deep most pick baer over trp

Few things right off the top of my head.

Springfield vs PII:

MIM vs. no MIM
not hand fitted vs hand fitted
no accuracy guarantee at 50 yds vs 50 yard guarantee (at 3" at that!)
2 piece barrel vs. KART NM barrel

Bit of an over exaggeration? I had no problems racking the slides of any Baer I tried nor the one I have, IMO they're the good kind of tight and like you said it only gets even better as you shoot it. IIRC TRP's went up in price so the few hundreds less than a Baer may not apply anymore

Seems like choice is clear... Les Baer all the way

from my recent shopping it's ~$190 difference

BIIRC TRP's went up in price so the few hundreds less than a Baer may not apply anymore

Where in the heck did that come from? :D

Someone with a TRP might want to confirm the 2-pc barrel on the TRP, I may be incorrect on that one.

$190 more for hand fit matched parts, awesome trigger, hand checkered front strap, an accuracy guarantee at 50 yards, and better resale value? I'm pretty sure there's more but for me the choice is pretty clear.
