Basically......I want an AK 103.....I know the AR is a far superior weapon..IMO , But having an AK...to me....would be fun and they look all kinds of evil. I watched "Lord of War"....and now I have to have one...

What is the "best" receiver to use?? What kind of parts list will I need to make an AK-103....legally of course??? Can you provide links to Cali-friendly suppliers with these parts??

It all depends on how correct you want it to be. Since folding stocks present a lot of complications your best bet would be to get a saiga sgl 20. Thats pretty much as close as your gonna get(without the folder) with out going into exreme detail.

Get an Arsenal SGL 10 and convert it yourself. They hover around $750. It's as close as you're going to get to an AK103.
Russian made....check.
7.62x39 ....check.
AK74 type muzzle brake....check.

Arent the "Arsenal" Saigas a no-go.....how do I do this right?? I thought the Saigas have to be RAA type.

Pardon my AK retardations....I am learning about them.

Arsenal SLG and SLR rifles are banned by name. They import Arsenal rifles from Bulgaria. They also just started importing the Saiga rifles from Russia and named them SGL 10 and SGL 20 so they are off list.

All about the SGL 10:

After purchasing the SGL 10 what else do you need to make it an AK103, I'm interested as well

Complete rear conversion as well as modifing it to accept double stack ak mags. The fire control group must be moved forward. Also, trimming the mag catch latch so AK mags will lock into place, and installing a bullet guide to force the rounds up and into the chamber.

Or, get an SGL-20. It's fully converted and ready to rock. It's also only a couple hundred dollars more.

So is the SGL20 essentially the 103? What modifications after that, I'm curiou

With the length issue, you're best bet would be to get a fixed stock version of the 103. And an Arsenal SGL-20 can fulfill it.

This dealer is CA friendly. I just got my SGL20 through her. There really isn't a need to get an SGL-10, it would just be more time and money to convert it with AK features, like pistol grip etc.

Not exactly, but very close. To be dead on, you would have to have the rear trunion removed, the rivet holes welded up, have the receiver cut for the new trunnion, and a new side folding stock and rear trunnion installed.
