I'm helping get a gift pack together to send to a co-worker's son that just got re-deployed to Afghanistan.
The co-worker said his son carried a 5.56 caliber weapon.
I said I'd get a Boresnake.
Would this be the same as a .233 boresnake?
Hey, I just discovered this "Calgunners in Service" forum; so I want to thank all you guys and gals protecting our freedom by putting your own butts on the line for everyone else.
God does bless you all, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

The sizes troops would need are .22, .30, 9mm and .45. Mostly .22 would be needed.

If he's a machinegunner, he'll need .30 (7.62) or .50 BMG

My younger boy is over in the sandbox (he arrived home on 15 day leave today - what a great Thanksgiving). He carries an M4 and an M9. I sent him the 9mm and the 22 bore snakes. The guys over there seem to really appreciate the bore snakes. If you have room in the box, you may want to throw in some sunflower seeds, beef jerky, gummi bears, and stuff like that, too.

Thanks for helping out.

the otis kits are nice. basically he will definetly need a 5.56 kit, probably a 7.62, 9mm, 40mm, 12 gauge, .50 cal (when i was deployed i had to make one out of 550 cord) maybe .45 but in 4 years i never ran into a .45. baby wipes q-tips clp break free bore snakes dental picks and some other goodies are nice suprises.

Pipe cleaners are nice to get into all the nooks and crannies on the M16/M4.

Okay; so far I have the .22 Boresnake, hard candy and chewing gum, Q-tips, and a tin of wintergreen dip.
Nobody has pipe cleaners in Westside Santa Cruz anymore!
Maybe, downtown at the head shops; but I try to avoid downtown here in Insanity Cruz... too many leeches, bums and creepy people.
I'll try the cigar shop in Soquel tomorrow.
Their walk-in humidor room smells great!:)
