Looking for a good mid price-ranged ($700-$1,400) 1911 in 45ACP on CA roster. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

High end of your budget:
Dan Wesson PM7 vs Springfield TRP
I went Springfield for the front strap checkering and full rail.

Lower end:
Springfield Loaded (plenty of options here)

Springfield loaded parkerized. Best bang for your buck IMHO.

Get the PM7 or you're not getting the greatest value for your dollar.

The PM7 is pretty sweet and you can sometimes pick them up used to save a few bucks as well.

Thanks for all the above recs. Sounds like Springfield Loaded is the way to go for a first-time 1911 owner (I've shot and owned mostly 9mm). One thing I read is that the Loaded is a hefty gun. Does anyone use it as a regular carry gun?

Any full size 1911 is a hefty gun. Whether you can carry it concealed depends a lot upon your body shape and preferred carry mode. I can't carry a 1911 IWB because it just doesn't fit me right. When I do occasionally carry one, I do so only when I can carry outside the waistband using a cover garment for concealment. This method of carry is generally effective only in the winter and early spring in CA.

Yea. I would do another Springfield Loaded in Stainless steel. My parkerized one has been good for over 4,000 rounds, great shooter, and SA warranty is the longest in the gun business. Good people too.

Just got back in the 1911 game, after selling off in the past 3 years.

At your budget's top price point....TRP full rail :oji:

That's a great choice. I've had one for over 10 years and it has given me great service.

Springfield loaded under $900
Springfield TRP $1400 to 1500
Kimber Custom II $under $850
Sig 1911 $900 to $1100
Kimber TLE $1100

Can not go with any of these. Go to Rifle Gear and look at them side by side.

Remember, It does not matter which one you pick up first. Before long, you will have many. 1911s tend to multiply rapidly. :43:
