So today I was taking a buddy shooting to keep him away from his 40th surprise birthday party that his wife was setting up.

So I take my buddy to Tracy Rifle and Pistol to go shooting. We get there right at 10am. We were 2nd in line when they announced they were full and the wait was an hour...so what to do? Go shopping!

I saw this firearm on the wall and was like that is cool but meh....then I put it in my hands and WOW. So light, so perfectly balanced and the trigger is amazing. one of the few times i didnt even ask the price and just bought it. Its a Trojan Firearms ULV1 CA Compliant. Can't wait to get it on the 7th:

You're not concerned about structural integrity with the missing metal?

Upper/lower receiver don't provide any structural integrity, they just hold the parts together.
The barrel/receiver extension/bolt are where it's at.

Pretty neat looking gun OP, color is nice.

Looks fresh.

With the exception of that charging handle, which appears to have seen use in Vietnam.

I told my wife after I bought it ( i just bought her a 3800 dollar camera so I have some leeway).

Better to ask forgiveness than permission.

+1, I have plenty of other "**** hits the fan" firearms. This is clearly a 3gun/range toy.

But the structural integrity is not compromised by the milling. It seems properly engineered.

I have one in burnt bronze. A real easy shooter, stays on target, very light. No malfunctions in several hundred rounds.

Looks like a F1 AR, looks koo how much did it set you back. I almost picked up a 308 receiver set similar to these but we're out of stock for the longest.

Good to hear! I really like the background of Trojan Firearms, seem like really good dudes.

Did you get the side pull attachment for your charging handle? If not then get in touch with Trojan directly. This was missing from my rifle and Tracy rifle pistol was useless in helping me. No offense to TRP and I have bought several items from them, but my transaction there did not go well for this rifle. Trojan will send one out to you.

Yep the side charging handle was in the box!

Good. Nice looking Rifle. I paid slightly less, maybe $50. That was last year and I had to wait 6 weeks for it. Of course I had to make it featureless myself so that cost me a bit. You will really enjoy it, feels lighter than it is to me, sometimes I just like to hold it.:D

Ya it blew me away how it felt in the hands. I have a ultralight pencil KISS build, and the ULV1 is lighter and has a regular stainless barrel. Crazyness.

Now i just gotta figure out what optics I want for it heh

It looks like if you sneeze the Trojan logo in the magwell will snap off.

Also the first time I've ever heard someone describe a grip-wrapped rifle as feeling great in their hands :D

But hey, if you like it you like it, who am I to judge. Congrats, enjoy!

I had mine last year before the wrap. It's a tough little SOB. Light and solid.

I have two Trojan guns, however, neither of them is this model.

Solid guns. Enjoy!

Thanks for the purchase!

We have had one as a rental on the range (its in the back in the cleaning pile now) and it has been a champ.

We have found that the side attachment for the charging handle broke a bunch of times on their first guns. They re-engineered it based partly on our feedback and from all reports they work well now.

No problem!

And I am pretty sure this is how the entire sale went down:

I have the pre-ban version of this rifle, and I love it. As you said, it's incredibly light. Very accurate; great trigger, and just beautiful to behold.

I placed a Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-6 on mine. Was going to go with the Vortex Viper, but my aged eyes had trouble seeing the hash marks on its reticle. But the Strike Eagle's reticle is made for old eyes!

And you will definitely want to install that side-mount charging handle after installing a scope. It makes operating the charging handle a breeze.

Enjoy your new toy!

Rob

Well got her out of jail, I bought my buddies PA 2.5x scope. I tried to put my old flip up back up sights on it but they wont fit so I went with the canted iron sights. I adjusted the trigger to ~3lbs. Its crisp, and short. Love the feel.

Havent shot it yet, range report will come this weekend:

That's a crazy charging handle, I didn't notice that before. Look forward to the range report, enjoy!

Edit: ooooooph, $125 if you want to buy the charging handle by itself! Looks like it works on all AR's though (except for .308 patterns). http://www.trojanfirearms.com/en/ar-15-gen-ii-side-pull-charging-handle

If they make a .308 version I may put one on mine. Since it's almost exclusively a bench-shooter, it would be perfect.

So this is the crispest AR I have ever fired. The trigger rests almost instantly, 2.5lb trigger pull is butter.

On this shot group, at 100yards, you can see I started dialing in shooting low and to the right, and follow my track up to just left of center. Its a tack driver for sure, even with the 2.5x scope.

This is the loudest 15 I have ever shot, the muzzle brake is crazy. its shoots a fireball out the right side of the brake. The recoil is straight back and almost nothing, getting back on target is the easiest I have seen. The person on the lane next to me had to move a lane :/

The flyers top left are the canted iron sights, they are a bit off and I am at max adjustment on them. Still serviceable. It was worth every penny
