I have been holding onto 4 bags of new 308 Winchester brass for at least 2 years. During that 2 years I aquired a Bartlein barrel blank, PT&G bolt and a few other goodies. I just had the Rem action trued and barrel installed by Randell (review to come). But back to the brass. I think it went bad while sitting??? Im sure your thinking WTF. Out of those 4 bags I was given 12 pieces that are garbage. I know Winchester isnt the best brass out there but at least top5. Is this normal for winchester or did there quality control go down the drain?? OK rant over but still mad as hell.http://i1314.photobucket.com/albums/t563/webcruzzer/Mobile%20Uploads/20161014_172324_zpsmhyxukog.jpg (http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/webcruzzer/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20161014_172324_zpsmhyxukog.jpg.html)

That is the new version with with variable neck tension. That is their new top secret design. I would call the factory and ask for some replacement. Somebody was asleep at the wheel while manufacturing. Looks like the machine ran out of lubrication while necking them down.

Bummer.

That's exactly why I only use Lapua brass. Life's too short to waste time and money on crappy brass.

Winchester brass got ****ty. With Lapua small rifle primer 308 brass available I agree with jandmtv, don't waste your time on other brass.

Is the picture before or after sizing?

Couple years + brass was hard to come by. I've had a few like that over the years but not at that rate. I'd have to suspect QC took the day off while mfg's were putting out everything they could.

Might contact Winchester and try to get bag out of 'em now.

Im going to call them monday. Im way too cheap to buy lapua brass. I have found about 10-15 over the years and it looks like good stuff but to by it, maybe after a kid or 2 moves out...... 10 years from now.
