View Full Version : Narrowing down buffer tube for SB15 brace

I currently have a DDMK18 pistol and am going to switch out the buffer tube to either the Odin Works, the KAK SB15 Tube, or the Phase5 Hex Tube…

just can't really make my mind up after that point.. they all seem high quality and increase the functionality of the Sig Brace… anyone have 1st hand experience with any and like to recommend one over the other?

The kak tube fits the sig brace like a glove - they also have a complete kit with a sig brace, & optional spacers that'll give your "pistol" the same lop as a ruger 10/22..

Never seen the others..

KAK looks nice but does the Odin or Phase 5 let the sig brace stick out further?

My KAK lets the SB15 twist after some light use at the range. I did put a layer of black insulation tape inside already to tighten it. I got an Odin Works tube, but I have yet to install it.

Maybe later I will lay them side by side with the KAK to see what is the possible "length of pull" on both. Seems to me the Odin would allow you to place the brace further back to the point that there is little buffer length left for the brace to grab.

Of course you can add multiples of KAK's "length adjustment kits" to extend it back until you run out of buffer tube too LOL

Be aware that the Odin tube will not fit billet Spikes or CMMG receivers. It will only screw half way into the receiver and then binds. I talked to them and they offered no solution.

I personally favor the phase over all others. Mostly because everyone has a KAK and the phase is just legit looking.

So for me Phase > KAK > Odin > All others

The Sig brace fits pretty tight on the Phase 5 tube. I thought I saw someone makes a locking collar to prevent the brace from sliding down.

Looking for the phase 5 HEX tube not the standard.

Get the phase 5 one. I just recently bought one and installed the sig brace and fits like a glove.

My $3.00 solution:

1. Drive to hardware store.
2. Buy small pack of good zipties with the metal tooth inside.
3. After arriving home, open a beer.
4. Get your pistol out and adjust the brace on the tube where you'd like the LOP to be.
5. Open another beer.
6. Use some hairspray on the spot where the brace meets tube. Fasten ziptie firmly in front of brace, on the tube.
7. Snip excess from ziptie; with loophole facing down.
8. Celebrate with a beer!

Switched to the Phase 5 Hex kit and Phase 5 straps. Superb fit with no movement with Sig Brace and the straps provide a much firmer fit too. Highly reccommend.

There was a thread on Arf where a guy put a drop of 2-part epoxy on the underside of a regular pistol buffer tube. He claimed it was enough to keep the brace from moving forward.

Can't go wrong with phase5 hex or kak, I went with the kak to bring OAL to 26" but to me phase5 hex looks better.

Cuddlles,

Unless you're trying to change the OAL, there is really no tangible reason to abandon the Daniel Defense receiver extension for a KAK, Phase 5, Odin, or anything else. The only thing you need to adjust the length of pull, and prevent the stabilizing brace from rotating is the locking collar from Odin.

^ I went with the Phase 5 ABS as well. Used some 3M double sided mounting tape on the base of the tube and the ABS is lock tight on the Daniel Defense tube.
