If we can show a PM or email string that proves you were doing something unethical the right to use the for sale forum may be revoked. It is best to state your terms in advance or the forum rules, written or understood may cost those privileges. No matter what you say or think on your own.

Unless the Seller states "First I'll Take It Gets It", then it's up to the sellers discretion between first posted "I'll Take It" and First PM.
I've been first many times on an "I'll Take It" only to be beaten by a PM where the seller didn't specify. I accept it an move on.
I don't specify in my For Sale threads, understanding that some people don't want to post an I'll Take It and would rather have the privacy of a PM.

I've also let 1st in lines back out for a variety of reasons, assuming I believed them. I've only negative ITrader'd two users here and then only AFTER discussing my options and the right course of action with a Mod.

Agreed and I save PMs from flakes to show mods or other calgunners if it needs to come down to that but so far it has not.

So feeler posts get some people ticked off. How does everyone feel about posting completely useless comments in a persons ad bumping it to the top?
Posts like nice gun, wish I could afford it or if you were in my area I would take it are just as annoying and needlessly bump other for sale posts to the next page.

It's a nod, a sign of respect or validating that it's an awesome exception available to us Californians, while the poster that does the bump may not be able to afford it or buy it for some reason. None-the-less, the admiration exists; thus the bump is done to facilitate help in the sale for the seller, without thread-crapping in arguement over price or condition / specifications relayed by the seller concerning the gun. Just as some might point out a big sale at a local store for others to enjoy the advantage afforded, it's re-upping the gun to see that others on Calguns do not miss the great deal or rare item.

I have nothing wrong with it - it's a nice gesture, and appreciated. People among communities comment their neighbor on "nice car", "nice suit" or "nice yard" all the time. It's complimentary, it's friendly. Call it validation or acceptance by peers, what have you, but if I'm trying to sell something, I'll take it. (Pun intended.)

However, FEELER threads are useless. They suck.

Sorry but i have to disagree. If a persons likes an item but has no intention of buying it then a send a PM. Everyone should have the same chance at selling their item. A person is supposed to bump their ad only once a day.

I have seen so many items bumped with useless comments it knocks other items to the next page. How is a box of ammo rare or an OLL AR? I have seen those sort of comments posted. It gets just plain silly. I have seen items for sale with 5 pages of comments and quite a few after the item has long been sold. Who does that help? If you want to discuss it take it to the appropriate section.

I get tired of going through the for sale section and having to sort through the same ads that keep getting bumped.

I've got several of those (email strings) banked in my personal email account. One from a 'senior member' that made a deal with me a year ago, then just stopped responding to my email the day the transaction was supposed to take place. Even ran into the guy several months later, him saying he was still working on it and we would finish the deal any day now, that was 6.5 months ago. Friggin scumbag, yep you know who you are. I'm still here and still waiting.

Whatever - you can't control what other people post. If it's their will, then so be it. I only bump my own ads once per 24 hours or more. I can't control what other people think or feel the need to do, as a compliment, so more power to them. Maybe the other items don't receive such replies because they are just not nifty enough or the prices suck? Maybe.

The market not only determines what sells, but also what deserves to be bumped top the top. I like it, and have bumped other people's items as well EVEN ABOVE MY OWN FOR SALE POSTS in some cases. I think that is fair.

Well isn't that a noble gesture.

Deserves to be bumped??? If it was such a hot item it would sell and not need to be bumped multiple times every day.

A few sites have a rule against posting anything other than a I will take it or email/PM sent and it makes it fair to everyone along with cutting down on needless discussions in what is supposed to be a market place section. Seems to work well.

I hate sellers who bump their ads more than a reasonable amount of times though, gee, if the items don't sell within 2-3 weeks, it's usually not because they are a screaming deal or something.

I think if a 'feeler' goes up in the "for sale" forum it should be considered fair game and the 'no thread crapping' rule not applied.
Actually, there is no need for them to post a "feeler".... they can post whatever price they want.... and there would be no embarrassment since the "no thread crapping" rules will make sure no one say anything.... it is a free market... a lot of people pay more than they should on ebay everyday....

Try it sometime? I do by not hogging the sales section and needlessly babbling on about an item I don't intend to purchase thereby giving everyone the same chance to sell their item.

Or maybe it's because a lot of people give up on Marketplace because of the flooding that bumps the single-threaders off the front page.
