Default Meet my little friend......

Found a Remington 24823 at Vallejo last weekend, so I just had to do it.
CA AOW legal! Going to change the grip though.

I love Calguns.
Thanks for sharing, and congratulations!

Please explain how you got the AOW status cleared for PRK. Is this a C&R issue or what?
By the way nice piece.

In regards to Short barreled shotguns, there is an exemption from the SBS-prohibition for federally-defined and federal-permitted (with the proper tax stamp) "any other weapons". That 870 is considered an AOW if it never had a shoulder-stock and is cut down to <18".

You may want to read this thread for more info, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=82693

I really want that. There should be a thread in layman's terms on how to obtain one.

There is a thread with all the info, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=82693 . Read that thread and ask questions if anything needs clarifying.

Basically, find out if your CLEO will sign-off on a Form 1 or Form 4. If not, then create a trust or corp/LLC. Trusts/corps/LLC's do not require CLEO sign-off since they are a legal entity.

Buy a pistol-gripped shotgun that has never had a shoulder stock. Submit Form 1 with $200 to make AOW. Wait ~2months for approved Form 1 to come back with $200 tax stamp. Make sure the firearm is engraved with your info before you cut down the barrel.

If you could find a NFA dealer/manufacturer, you may be able to buy an AOW already made with a Form 4. And an AOW Form 4 only costs $5. But right now, the NFA dealers in CA aren't familiar iwth the AOW exemption, so you may have problems finding someone that can help you.

D a m n!! Nice shotty! I'm jealous. The short barrel justifies the pistol grip.

Wow, I wouldn't mind something like that. I have no use for it, but when has "usage" even been in the equation(other than to convince the wife)??

I'd get a holster and keep it just the way you got it. With the right ammo, would be great for opening locked doors.

Is that considered as a concealable weapon?

Dunno, can you put one of those on a CCW? I bet North American Arms doesn't make a belt buckle for it.

I don't think you can put it on a CCW but on a weapons class that I took they said that you can conceal a rifle or shotgun legally in your car because its not considered a concealable weapon or something like that. That lil guy would be awesome under a front seat.

I think I can get these down to under 600.00. The long forcing cone and back boring keeps the price up. It's not just a chopped 870.

If I can do it I'll list them in the for sale section and kick a few bucks to Kes.

Count me in for 1 when you get them all set up, I will also need info on how to finish the sale in re: to legalities, setting up a trust, etc etc. Ive been reading up on it, but would prefer to talk one on one if possible. Its alot easier to ask questions that way for me. (I have No Brain Retention Syndrome!)

Would like one as well. Curious about legalities, and setting up 'the trust' as well. Perhaps a thread on trusts?.......

the funniest thing is that the $200 Tax Stamp REALLY IS a stamp. By that I mean that it looks like this:

ps: if you own a business or can provide a service, please go to this thread (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=97200) and add your info to the list that i'm compiling.

At $600 I'd love to have one! Especially if its stamped "Witness Protection 870" like that.

I already have a family trust established (it owns my home), I don't know the details as it was set up by my dad; but I do know my name is listed. Would that potentially be something I could use to go forward with this or would I be better off just setting up a new trust? (I know thats vague but I know nothing about trusts)

Ok guys, here is the deal.

YOU go buy a Remington 870, order number 24823.
It must be new in box with the factory label on the box matching the gun.
Wait your 10 days and transfer ownership to your trust or corp.
Ship it up and we do the work and transfer it back to you on a form 4.

The cost is 250.00.

The only change I made on the gun is it will not be backbored, but will have a screw in choke (extra full or whatever you like).

For Calgunners only! I will kick 50.00 per gun back to Kes and the site.

Can this be done to a Mossberg 500 Cuiser (part number 50450). I'd sure love to have an AOW with a detachable mag (Knoxx sidewinder).

What if we can get a CLEO sign off?

The Remington 25539 is fine but it's a limited run. I'll get back to you on the Mossbergs. I'm sure that they are OK but I'll check anyway. They do require more mods.
