I think it's actually 25 yards, but I may be wrong there. You can always use a smaller target! LOL!

It's as deep as other local indoor ranges, and I've been to both Magnum ranges, Beaumont, and the one in Berdoo too. As well as some in OC/LA area and Phoenix/Scottsdale.

As for ammo rules etc, RISR is one of the MOST accommodating ranges I've been to. About the only rule they have regarding ammo is no Russian or steel core ammo. Unlike many other local ranges they do not require frangible ammo to be used with rifles, they do not require you buy/use their ammo, and they'll let us pick up our brass!

Add to that a friendly and safe staff and RISR is my go to range in the IE now!

Check them out for yourself!

I truly believe with over hundreds of posts on the topic and a couple different forums to post in you have spoken your peace already, and it has been heard.

I am not going to add the topic to my agenda for the shoot.

There will not be any BOD members present at the shoot that I know of so you will only be able to discuss problems without solutions.

I will not stop you from discussing it, but do know if it creates a hostile environment or disrupts the shoot in any way I will have to intervene and take the necessary steps to make the shoot enjoyable and positive for everyone in attendance.

Thanks for your understanding.

No, I totally agree! We do not want to alienate any newbs attending this event for the first time. So afterwards and across the street might be the best venue!

How much ammunition does one need for this event? I was looking at the NRA/Winchester qualification and it said it takes 570 rounds.

That's over the entire process, each level, assuming you don't get stuck on a level for a while. To got to the top level will take a while.

We shoot for about an hour and a half, so take what you can comfortably shoot in that amount of time.

Many of us take more than 1 firearm as we get tired of shooting the same thing.

Ok thanks. It also says that if we needed to switch firearms it has to be in the same caliber, is that being applied at the event?

For the NRA qualifications yes that is true! I shoot about 100 rounds at qualifying targets and then shoot other firearms for fun!

Personally I'm stuck at Marksman First Class as I've never shot weak hand prior to this.

Here is the guide, pistol stuff starts on page 4:

Generally the first 2 ranks can be completed in one night but it is a challenge to do so. That is if you dedicate all your time to it and are diligent about doing it. That and depending on if you have to reshoot any targets..

First rank requires 50, second 100. So I would bring 150+ rounds if you intent to go for the first 2 ranks.

You can work on "classes" or "ranks" over multiple "days" as long as you shoot all the "stages" required by the class to make a "set".
Yes, I know that sounds weird and complicated but:
As everyone else is saying, please read the official NRA handbook and the guide I wrote that they are linking. The way that the handbook states things is not always clear, thats why I wrote the guide, in an attempt to simplify it (But still provide all information).

Yes that applies to when you are working on the Qualification.

Please do not confuse that this monthly shoot is a general shoot.
The qualification is optional and just one thing to do at this monthly shoot event.
A good number of people are working on the qualification but a good amount of people just do general plinking and have fun.
It's up to you if you want to try the qualification.

As someone that has earned Distinguished Expert in the NRA Pistol Qualification I highly suggest everyone give it a try.
Its a great way to add focus and purpose to your range time.

Even if you do not try the NRA Qualification these shoots are great fun and an awesome way to meet other like minded individuals.
So if anyone is on the fence come on out, this shoot is run by a great guy!

Yes that is fine, let FearKrew know if they are coming asap.

They might want to sign up for the website as the AR500 Armor Giveaway is only eligible to people who have signed up for CGN

Fear: What's the minimum number of participants we need to make these events happen?

I'd like to see at least 20 sign up, because then 10-15 show up, and the Range is happy.

But... As you know I've kept them going with less than that.

Hey FearKrew, you bringing plenty of those AP2 targets for the qualifications?

What's the cost of those again?

Default CANCELLED Monthly Shoot RISR Fri, June 20th IE - CANCELLED

Sorry guys but 8 is not enough. Technically only 5 signed up... me and Blackstone don't really count as we put it on, and Prsabordo never confirmed so only 5 confirmed sign ups.

I'm going to have to cancel this shoot. Maybe next month we can drum up more interest.

Wow! That's 2 cancelled IE CGSSA events in a row since "Sniffgate"! ...and two lost chances to win the ar500 armor for an IE resident!

But a CGSSA board member is still claiming that the "endorsement" of Sniff over Bianco and the local volunteers and leaders that have quit isn't hurting our area! Amazingly ignorant!

are there any youtube videos from these previous events...???

Maybe if there were video evidence of people enjoying themselves
that might inspire the fence-sitters?

Dang, well maybe next time. I heard the new range in Riverside is pretty nice and well ventilated. I agree, a youtube video of these events would be helpful.

It is a very nice range, they let us shoot rifles, and you can collect your brass!

Nothing that says those of us who registered cant go anyway tomorrow night, we just wont get the reduced CGSSA lane price.

YouTube videos are going to be tough if we cannot get a shoot off the ground. Nothing beats personal testimony though. Check out the posts after these shoots:

You will see that everyone had a great time, with pictures in most of them. Also great prizes. I can only get sponsors for prizes when we have continued attendance.

Hey Guys - Rookie Newb here =).
You can count me in on the next event.
Taking delivery soon of my arms shorty, one should be available in time for the shoot.
Like a good boy programming the VCR...I'm reading the manual.
Anyone have a good site regarding breaking in a barrel?

So who's going to be there tonight just for some casual shooting?

I just found out that I could make it. So I came here to ink my spot and find out it's been cancelled. What a bummer.

With the .40 just shoot and clean afterwards. Nothing special for barrel breakin. You might want to give it a good clean and light oil before though.

On the 15T, some guys get carried away with putting a few down the barrel then cleaning after maybe a mag or two. Personally, I'd just shoot it and clean afterwards... just like the .40. Oh, and don't get the barrel too hot by dumping mags quickly...at least not at first while its new.

Enjoy, and welcome to the club!
