Default North California Gunsmith

Hello,

I am looking for a good gunsmith for new barrel to be installed on my R700 installed on AICS chassis.

I would prefer someone located in SF Bay Area (east bay)

Thanks

Matt Huston is in Stockton no contact info
Stu Harvey is in Sacramento and his shop was Stu's Precision
Jim Ketchum is in Petaluma and his number is 707-762-3014
Greg Wilson is in vallejo or vacaville but no contact info.
A web search should get you info on all of the above.Shipping a action and barrel runs $40 with insurance each way and is often your best bet.

Gary in Mountain View at Gun Vault is a great gunsmith. Looks like you might have to do some driving, wherever you go.

I am in South Bay (Santa Cruz area) and do several barreling jobs each month. I also service many gunshops in my area with advanced gunsmithing, including Bay Area Gun Vault.
FFL licensed and insured. Please PM for more details.
Thanks,
Ken

Spartan Rifles, located across the street from PayPal. Given your location preference, you can drop it off during lunch.

Ken Breda (Kendog4570) has become the go-to guy for a number of us competitive shooters.

Does excellent work with fair prices. Every barrel he's done for me has shot exceptionally well; I appreciate the quality of the chamber finish as well as the crown.

He's just down Hwy 17 south of San Jose. Call 831-334-2386.

I've never used him personally but I know a few guys who used Anthony Pettiti in the past for benchrest rifle metalwork. I haven't heard much about him in the last couple years though, not sure if he's still 'smithing or not.

Ken Breda aka Kendog45/70 here builds great rifles! Won most of my matches since he built my 308. I havent seen a Sparten rifle beat a Breda Rifle .He is close to the south bay.

If I am not mistaken I think Ken Breda was taught by master gunsmith Jack Davis?

Yes, he was trained by the late Jack Davis. I met Jack at the last regional he was match director of before Uncle Dirk took over the reigns.

I'm personally inviting you to Sac Valley Shooting Center this Sunday for the NCPPRC Long Range monthly match. Bring your Breda rifle and see what it's like to be beaten by at least 30 Spartan Precision rifles on the line.

Shawn,

I have never met Ken, but I am sure he builds a fine rifle as I have seen your rifle perform very well at F-TR events.

I think the OP was looking for a tac rig build due to his specs of a AICS stock.

Now if you wanna talk about wins...Look at Steve Raeders rig. Marc spun up 4 barrels for him and he smoked the F-Open.

There are great smiths all over the place and each have their specialty. When it comes to rigs for our game, I'll run my Spartan 260 vs. any rig built.

=) But I do appreciate the motivation to shoot a lil more F-TR with my Spartan. Just let me learn the ins and out of the game and I'll give your rig a run for the money. See you on the line soon bud.

Couldnt get a zero on my new Mossberg MVP patrol 308 in time. Had trouble with the steel case 308. The camo gear I bought was alittle snug to shoot in .Barska sniper scope doesnt seem to put rounds where I Send them. Any advice? Will make next sniper match when I get this stuff fixed.

I would suggest Don Lazzarini in Santa Clara on Woodward Ave I believe. Impressive guy with a good and helpful attitude, big shop, he's only done minor work for me but I've heard very good things from others and wouldn't hesitate to take a bigger job to him.

I need to get a front sight installed on my colt 1911a1 GI mil spec gun. It's the stake sight one. Anyone in Roseville, Sacramento or Woodland can do it?

I have used him for some misc smithing as well as customizing a SP 101. Great work, nice guy, and good prices. Give him a call before heading down to make sure he is there.

Steve won group outright with a 4.067 inch group aggregate of lightgun and heavygun. His score was 740 which was 4th place in two gun score.I don't have the individual classes which show his 4 individual placings which total to determine your finishing order but he is definitely The 600 yard National Champion.
The weather must have been pretty bad from looking at the results.
Congrats to Steve on his win.

This is the second time a non purpose built bench gun has won the 600 yard Nationals at Sac that I'm aware of.

must be something in the water up there…

LOL....

Thanks for the offer bro, but I'll be rocking that Spartan soon enough.

May just scrap the 155s and run the 185s like you guys.

Will your new rifle meet actual F-Class weight specs? Didn't realize I can run a 1" straight barrel in FTR
