Default Who knows anything about importing guns?

I travel over seas a lot and have a line on some ak47s. I can get them for $75 a pop per crate. Also a line on colt Vietnam era m16s.

I assume the m16s are a no go considering that they were/are gov property.

Obviously they all would have to be converted from full auto.

Whats the reality of doing something like this?

I suppose you could import them as parts if you cut up the reciever.

I was in the process of importing a shotgun barrel from Germany; it was $800 for transit, unknown amount of taxes, and 800 for the barrel itself. After I decided to not go through with it because of the ridiculous costs.

One thing that was mentioned, is that you can bring back a gun in a sporting configuration and get it registered to you for non-resale purposes, and filling out an ATF form 6.

I got a buddy who can make it happen......he's having a little trouble right now, craziness about him taking bribes or something. Totally shenanigans. Anyway, he knows a guy who can help you out. Just donate a little bit to his campaign. He cares about children, you know.

As far as cutting up the receiver, I wouldn't risk it tbh. ATF's FAQ on importing firearms. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/imports.html That's not even going into CA's laws. Hope this helps.

Winner !

In fact this whole thread is hilarious.

OP: I hope it was not a serious question you were asking.

I was serious but I kinda set myself up on this one. Unintentional comedy is the best.

The receivers and barrels can't be imported.
