Arrow Mauser G 98 Amberg 1915

When I first got to the US I was looking for a decent hunting rifle and bought from a local old gunsmith a Mauser manufactured in Amberg with a real low serial number. He had "sporterized" it, floating barrel, peep site custom stock and so forth.I have done quite a bit of hunting with it over the years, mostly deer and pigs. Later also started to load for it and shot steel targets out to 400 yards. Does anybody know anything about the Amberg works and those guns comming out of it?

Amberg was a state arsenal for the German Empire, like Spandau, Erfurt, and Danzig.

The private companies were Loewe, DWM, Mauser-Oberndorf, Simpson & Suhl, Sauer & Sons, etc.

The all made a variety of small arms, heavy ordinance, and other steel products for the German military, Imperial (later Weimar and Nazi) infastructure and consumer use.
