Default Help with rifle case

I am looking for a case for my first black rifle. I am thinking of getting a Galati Discreet case. Is this a good brand of case?

Also, I do not take possession of my lower until this Friday, so I am not sure of the overall length of the rifle. I have a 16" Stag 2H upper and a CAA 6-position collapsible stock. Can someone give me an idea of the length with the stock fully collapsed?

Thanks for any help!

Galati is a decent brand.

The rifle should be roughly 33" or so with the stock collapsed.

Why not look at the MOLLE rifle cases toward the bottom of this page, they are quite a bit cheaper and better looking (IMO):

For length I would guess closer to 36" based on the length of mine with a 20" upper and collapsible stock.

Wow! Galati Discreet case is expensive!

I would get the longer case to fit other rifles too for a few bucks more.
I like Tac-force myself and a bit cheaper.

What so discreet about it? I can recognize that case from a mile away.

Something like this would be better...

I would personally recommend a Hardigg Storm case.

If you want discreet, I've heard tennis racket bags work well.

Thanks for the replies. I am not really concerned with being "discreet". I just liked the configuration of the side pocket with mag & misc storage. It will only be used to carry to the range & home. But I want a nice case that will protect the rifle, and have extra storage, too.

I really like it. It's very solid. Seems very well built

I recommend soft cases as they are so much easier to manipulate, fit in your trunk, carry to/from the range.

The CTD cases are pretty good for the price. I have some more pics and a review here: http://blog.riflegear.com/articles/m...oft-cases.aspx
The biggest problem with the CTD cases is you have to hold your nose when you order them because they are pretty lame when it comes to sending anything centerfire rifle-related to California. They just dont and claim "it's all illegal". You can pick up the same cases at any of the local gun shows but the shipping from CTD is probably cheaper than admission to the show.

I found a deal on a iM3100 Storm Case.

Working out great. Foam included, was $130. Holds 2 ARs 16".

www.stormcase.com

Went out and bought a iM2500 for the SLR too.

Remember, at least 85% of anything from CTD is red chinese made. You buy their cheesy crap, they get your good money.

Can't say enough about Pelican cases. Throw them from a speeding truck, and shrug your shoulders. The gun will be fine inside.

I would look into an SKB double rifle case. Quality cases IMO.

I like Tac-Force. This place is having 10% off. Already got a drag bag from them. Fast shipping. Also depends on how long your rifle is. It should fit the 33" but you can get the 36" to fit your other guns like an ak.

CTD is one of those hosed up outfits that will not sell anything with AR on it to California - they blame it on state laws. Vote with your wallet and ignore vendors that don't serve us!

Pelican is waterproof too!
