Default OUCH Russia just shut off ammo supply to USA, going to get $$$xpensive now!

“Russia Has Reportedly Halted All Exports To The US Of Russian Made Ammunition”

The largest wholesale gun & ammo distributors in the US have informed us in private conversation today that a massive scramble is on for all 7.62 as Russia has reportedly halted all exports to the US of Russian made ammunition.
Our distributor source informed us that yesterday they had several hundred thousand rounds of Russian made 7.62 TulAmmo, and after receiving word early today on the halt of Russian exports to the US,they have been completely wiped out of every last round in the past 10 hours!

I hope everyone who was inclined to "panic buy" got that out of their system last year.

I did order a 1k case but that is to replace what I normally shoot with a tad extra to get me by if something happens to the supply. If you think you need an extra 5 or 10 k "just because" this is the wrong time to be buying it... Don't be a chowderhead and buy into the whole ammo panic thing. And if you're planning to buy all you can get your hands on, and sell it on Gunbroker at triple normal price when there's none to be had anywhere because others are doing the same... that's low, buddy... mighty low.

So many other countries export ammo. This "panic" is being made up by gun owners.

I hope thats not true, no more Tula ammo I guess…

Thing is, its probably not going to be a "forever" thing. The US is a huge enough market for Russian ammo manufacturers that they are going to raise hell until they can sell us ammo again.

I purchased 500 rounds yesterday with no problem. Business as usual.

This.

If people were reasonable about it there would never be shortages. Unfortunately a lot of gun owners are hoarders and will die of old age before using ~10% of the ammo they buy. Don't believe me? Just look at whenever an old geezer gun owner kicks off and his kids find ammo from the 1970s piled up in the garage lol.

I know.. but the mere mention of a "shortage" is going to screw it all up. I check all my sources and everything seems normal... for now

russia doesnt export a great deal of things. fossil fuel and arms are their only real money making exports. and no doubt the american market is probably one of their biggest buyers of ammunition, so this move would make zero sense whatsoever. even if you think they would stop out of spite, that's ridiculous because since when has russia cared who they sold arms and ammunition to?

I'll believe it when I see it. I can't imagine Russia wanting to lose the American ammo consumer.

I don't own an AK or anything that eats Russian ammo so I really don't have any skin in this game.

If you're looking for 7.62x39 SG Ammo has some in stock. Prices haven't changed in a couple days so they aren't gouging (yet).

Quick someone tell Putin that if he really wasn't to punish the Obama administration. He needs to flood the US with all the cheap ammo they can manufacture.

Actually; yesterday would be pre panic... re: the smart time to stock up.

Its like buying before an election.

but I get your point... but even if there is a panic it is still smart to replenish now to make it through a panic... also; I'd add on... if the story is true it is not a panic. Product just got removed from the market. That's not panic; that's potential real shortage and it could last quite awhile and be worse than a panic...

Even if it is true I just see it probably being shipped to one country and then to another. However, personally just seems like hype. Would be funny though if this is their big plan which they said they would do if USA did any move. Basically just hurting them and not much more.

US sales are what has largely kept what Izhmash (now the Kalashnikov Concern) from bankruptcy. This would appear to be an odd move.
