Default Ballistol Ban in California

Anyone else hear about this? I searched and didn't see a thread on it yet.

Apparently CARB has new rules on VOC contents.

So get it while you still can- just purchased 4 cans for my neighbor and two for myself until it gets "reformulated" to meet CA standards.

"Reformulated" likely means it won't work for ****. Get it while you can.

From the horse's mouth:

Quote:
Why is Ballistol not available in California?

We have voluntarily removed our product from the California market after a review from the California Air and Resource Board. California has imposed new regulations on VOC content, and we are working to comply. We expect to have the non-aerosol version available for California very soon, and the aerosol version available in the coming months. We apologize for any inconvenience

**** CARB first off

I have the version that's just in a regular bottle. I order it from Midway anyway, I doubt they know or care about a 'ballistol ban'

I believe it's the propellant used in the aerosol, not the actual content.

This, I've never thought to myself the Remoil in the bottle is superior to the Remoil in the can.

It should be the aerosol and not the contents, we live in bizzaro world x10

I put a regular spray nozzle on my bottle and squirt it out.

Smells like rotten wintergreen.

I'm not so sure it's just the propellant. Low/no VOC carb and brake cleaner doesn't work nearly as well as it once did.

CARB = nothing good. Seriously, look up the power and authority they wield and it is quite overwhelming their un-chained influence.

Want to get older cars off the road? Grease the palm of CARB.

Want to kill hot-rodding and tuning cars EVEN IF THEY PASS A SMOG TEST and do away with sales of aftermarket performance parts!!!?? Grease the palm of CARB.

Want to frustrate gun owners? Grease the palm of CARB.

Oh, and by the way - that "grease" doesn't have to be low VOC. Surprisingly they'll let that slide.

Their mandate is essentially unlimited.

Everything 'effects the environment' in some way. We had a chance with the AB32 rollback, but it got shot down.

Ive been *****ing about them for years, as it effects my business. The more people get burned by them in some way, the more people will pay attention.

It will be to late then, but whatever.

We smuggle in most things we need anyway. One more law to ignore.

thank god they stopped selling that dangerous stuff here

now our beeutiful state can be safer and none of those deadly gasses can come in through our force field over the sierras.

every product has to be different for this state and it is costing us billions but since most people don't travel out to buy things, they never see it, they just think costs must have gone up and keep paying

Not surprising, anything relating to CARB is not good

Yup. A few years ago Intel and a few other chip companies wanted to build new fabrication plants in California. Sorry, CARB has NEW rules. The new plants would meet EPA regs, but that's not good enough for CARB.

So the plants, and the thousands of jobs that went with them, ended up in other states.

Yup, they are, just ordered a bunch, thanks.

I deal with tons of regulators. CalOSHA, DOT, CHP, USDA, FDA, State Health, County Enviromental Services, Zoning, Planning, Fire. You name 'em, I got 'em. But the sum total is not as as capricious, vicious, expensive, and useless as CARB. tTey are an epic monument to the fail in California.

I just opened my first bottle not long ago and all I can think about when someone mentions "ballistol" is how bad it smells...

On another note, won't the non-aerosol version be available? In any case, Amazon regularly sends non-CARB approved stuff to California. I once ordered a product that said "NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA" on the bottle once I had received it. I thought that was weird, checked the description on the site and sure enough, even the description said "NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA".

Well I guess I won't be using anymore of my Ballistol until this mess gets sorted out. I wonder if the local shop sold their Ballistol inventory already.

Ballistol is great! I don't worry about the smell as long as the product works well. Took the wife shooting yesterday, got home and cleaned the guns. Then I left to run some errands and left her at home with the aroma permeating the domicile.

She didn't comment on the smell -- she likes clean guns too.

Any other aerosol CLP like ballistol? I like how I can just spray things down then wipe off, then spray again and you're done. They only thing is the smell, but I endure because its such an easy spray.
