Default New to me rifle thanks to a Cal Gunner

Just picked up this beauty today. Saw it in the market place and after talking tp the seller and explaining that it would take me a bit to get funds he agree'd to hold for me. He followed through on his word and held it for almost a month. Funds got green lit this morning and he came on up over an hr away to meet me at my ffl. So this is my new stick. Serbu 50BFG in DTC. Currently sports a Bushnell elite 3200. Cant wait to get it out of jail. And just for grins i placed a rd next to a 338 LM. Thanks again CalGuns!

Yep! The rifle had been for sale for a while and to me it was still a good deal being how much i was going to put into a 110ba in 338. Cheaper ammo and only a bit more to reload. I contacted him and gave him a date that would work for me and he agreed. I didnt haggle on price being everything included and he was willing to come to my ffl. Even had other offers but kept his word to hold. Im glad he did! Im gonna have some fun in 2 weeks.

I'm assuming BFG is not a typo for BMG.. Cause last I thought, 50 BMG was not legal in CA.. Noting your from CO I'd assume thats where its at if BMG to stay legal but you mentioned calgunner which is why I'm confused how this went down legally...

That said.. I cant tell if thats ugly, or just so ugly its beautiful haha and you have a big wallet sir!

Im in Colusa COUNTY. The model is BFG. Cartridge is 50 DTC. As far as ugly, it aint perty (the welds are) bc for the most part its a piece of pipe hah. But like a junkyard dog, It aint about lookin perty, its all bark and bite. Oh and the rig cost me alot less than my lr-308 build. Ammo through Ben is quite inexpensive when you put it into perspective. Its a few pennies more a rd than a magnum hunting cartridge.

Haha im thinkin bout it.my range is about 15 min from work. Only issue is i would like someone out there with me for the first ones. Dont like to shoot a new firearm in bfe alone especially this cartridge. Unlikely anything bad would happen (good builder/reloader and reputation.

I know what you mean. I built my own 50 cal and had the same feelings of nervousness when going out to the range the first time. Especially hearing the horror stories of cracked stocks and catastrophic failure.

why? what would you do with a lead free projectile?

(keep in mind if they are 360 brass they are not lead free, only 260 is lead free, and neither are considering "expanding")

50 bmg, 20/50, and 20mm vulcan on the right.

.......might be a little overbore.

(actually, kinda reminds me of a 22-250 sitting next to a 223)

Great gun! Enjoy.

Got to love the description on their site regarding cost.

"The BFG-50 is constructed using the most modern manufacturing methods (CNC machining, laser cutting, automated welding) and is made from the highest quality MIL-spec alloy steels. The safety factors to which all the critical parts are designed are very high; more than double what one finds in a typical production military rifle. While the price of this gun is incredibly reasonable, the low quality that one usually expects with a low price is not a fact of life with the BFG-50. How can this be done? Low overhead, and a design that's optimized for manufacturability as well as performance and quality. Plus a labor pool made up mostly of illegal immigrant children toiling in a hellish environment, subsisting on a diet of water, rice and cockroaches."

99.9% the same. the .510DTC was designed to be ballistically equal to the .50BMG. It was designed in France to comply with laws that prohibited civilian ownership of firearms that shot military cartridges. It is even opined that the .510DTC is more efficient than the .50BMG due to improved case dimensions.

Ok so my boredom got to me and one thing ive noticed is the lack of a cheek rest other than resting on the piece of pipe, i mean receiver. Thought of foam with sticky on it cut to size but tried making this. Foam left over from my pelican case and a used shemagh i had laying around. Very comfortable and should wick up sweat. Might not be everyone's cup o yea but damn it feels good! I mostly shoot in prone so it seems like a must.

is the same thing for all intents and purposes. It's .1" shorter so it cannot accept a 50BMG cartridge in the chamber, and improved enough to get the case capacity back.

Same ballistics. Same load data. Same big 50 grin.

Well today was the day. All i can say is everyone in here needs one. Period. Such a blast and had lots of fun. Rifle shot great and stacked the M2AP on top of each other. Very soft shooter but man; the concussion started to give you a headach 20-30 rnds in. Put 40 down range between me and some buddies. And even tried a standing shot. Trigger feels like a feather when your adrenaline is goin!
Had one case/head and neck fracture. Everything else came out fine and no stretching.

And even dug a bullet out of the hill
