Default Question re: Fiberglass Stocks

You know how some folks buy a small house, then as they need it, they build additional rooms onto the original house?

Could you do the same with a fiberglass stock?

Say you get a McMillan stock, the HTG inletted for a M40 contour barrel. You drop in a bone stock Remington 700 off an SPS. Later down the road when you get more money - you upgrade and install the bull barrel, and eventually a Badger Ordnance M5 DBM trigger guard.

Of course you'd have to send the stock off for modifications for bedding and trigger guard rework.

Is this a practical or is it better to wait and save money for the whole set up at once?

It would be best to order the stock already inletted for the Badger DBM.
You can get a PTG bottom metal for $100 that will drop into it.
Order the stock with aluminum pillars already installed.
You can drop a regular SPS barreled action into it just fine.
Then, later, you can rebuild the gun with a heavier barrel.
Don't do the full epoxy bedding job until you put the new recoil lug and barrel on the action.
