Default R.I.P. Ammo

I thought these were against the Geneva Convention? I designed something like this 25 years ago except the 'fingers' were slightly helical with a steel penetrator core and thin metal bands holding the mess together.

Wouldn't the Geneva Convention have to do with use in combat?

Hmmm
1265fps with a 96 grain bullet = 490 muzzle energy? <- what units?

I figure it's only about 350 foot pounds of energy with those numbers, but with a 6" diameter wound channel penetrating 16" it will defeat anything.

Best of all, it's lead free!

^ Wow!! I was looking for the price. $200 for a box of 20? So much for independent testing. It might be cheaper just to hire bodyguards.

I think you can have one or the other.

Is it .45, .40 or 9mm?

Rhino and Black Rhino comes to mind

Good looking ammo for a movie prop

Light bullets don't penetrate as well...

How much breaks apart at impact reducing the penetration weight?

Probably will work like Magsafe- if it is ever produced...

No, that would be the Hague Convention of 1899.

Which doesn't affect us civilians anyway.

I wouldn't get it off GunBroker. It is probably expensive because of all the hype and because some people have had early access to these rounds. It officially releases on Feb 1 to other retailers.

They will be pricey...but not THAT pricey.

Right now they are 9mm, they are planning on other calibers.

This ammo is going to retail $45/20. I never understood these people who throw money to be the first.

It is the same group who own a gun but don't need to train and develop skill.

People who shoot understand that tactics and the brain are what wins a fight.
Any modern pistol will work and major caliber will work

Now you have a single tumbling ball round and a bunch of little petals that have no mass and cannot penetrate.

Would anyone shoot a 9 grain solid ball from a 9mm and expect anything other than a small permanent wound channel wih almost no temporary wound channel.

Look at the promises of Black Rhino ammo-
1 hit guaranteed kill
Guaranteed to penetrate all soft body 3A armor

I hope the ammo proves me wrong.
I can't wait for the ballistic gel tests to happen.
That is tests by folks other than the manufacturer.

Will the petals make it through the layers of denim?

They should, they are little spears.

I'm curious what the difference would be if they put a little piece of hot glue in the middle, or a frangible piece of powdered lead.

I'm underwhelmed. Meplat kills, and soft lead expands. There is no better killing bullet than soft lead.

Can't wait until the .22LR caliber version.

If someone had $300, they really need to invest in training rather than ammo they will likely never shoot.

The .22 version somewhat exists in the form of the segmented hollow point. Similar concept of the bullet breaking off into a few pieces.

The RIP just looks outright scary to be on the receiving end of.

CCI Quik-Shok .22LR

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/130...d-hollow-point

There's nothing new under the sun.
I have some of this QS ammo from back in the day in .45ACP and .357 Mag.
The "goat tests" done back then showed the .357 QS as the quickest stopper by far. (Some have disputed whether these goat tests were actually done, but that's another story).
I tried to get 9mm QS but it was always sold out....at the time supposedly all the 9mm QS was going to SEAL and other covert operations teams.
