Got to handle one at SHOT 2014. Really nice trigger for a DA/SA. The slide is a little "crunchy" in the rear but they say that is supposed to help with the recoil. Nice small frame gun. A little heavier than it looks, but all-in-all a really nice gun. Surprisingly so. This gun was one of those guns that completely caught me off guard at the show. Hadn't heard of them. Didn't think they would be any good. Then dry fired it and decided I really liked it. My father, who like DA/SA guns more than I do was absolutely in love with it!

R51 now available on Academy's website for $399. Hmmm...

It looks great! Maybe I should go pick one up.

I'll wait a year.

Generally, not a good idea to be a beta tester, imo.

Default The original M-51 was a grail gun of mine

I'm tempted to bite on this one, but I'll wait a bit before I do.

^^Also probably a prudent idea to wait until the "hot new thing" factor cools down a bit.

I'm a big fan of the PPK, so I would have designed the slide a bit differently myself - a tribute I guess

I've been waiting for this gun ever since I first heard about it but, I just read a couple articles that weren't very positive. I think I'm going to wait and see what actual users think.

Bad reviews already. Do some more research.

A lot of significant problems according to this review.

Frame mounted? No. Even if it were, frame mounted barrels are typically still removable anyway(just requires a little extra work).

That's a cool looking pistol. Are they going to be able to sell them in CA?

I could have sworn I had read that it was, but after watching some videos on youtube it clearly is not frame mounted my mistake.

I already have a couple guns to go on my permit, but I'll definitely be picking one of these up. A small, single stack, all metal 9mm would fit in the rotation really well.
