Default SP2022 field strip

I just picked up my new SP2022 .40 S&W.

I wanted to do a field strip and inspect it before taking it out to the range. I had a heck of time getting the pin out to get the slide off. I ended using a wooden dowel to push the pin through to get the slide stop out.
I hope this gets better the more I use it.

Yes the mag was removed. I looked at several videos and it is a very simple process. The pin was just very stiff and wouldn't budge just using my finger.
I have no problem taking down my Glock 19 or my Colt Government.

Yep. Pin is a bear when new. It will loosen up. Just strip it a lot. Mine goes flying when I pop it now on my 9mm.

Mine was tight at first but it loosened up nicely.

More than likely it will. The SP2022 is known for a stubborn takedown pin when they're new. The wife & I have matching nines & both were that way.

Yeah, that take down pin/slide lock lever is a pain to get out the first few times. I used the butt end of a chopstick IIRC. Either that or the orange empty chamber plastic thingy they include in the gun when you buy it.

Make sure you clean all of the gunk out of the pistol slide/action etc before you hit the range. It will make it cycle smoother. And don't forget to lube it up generously.

The wife picked hers up 2 weeks ago and we put 200 rounds thru it. The first SP2022 we bought just about a year ago and has seen over 1300 rounds. I think one or two odd issues. Couldn't really trace it back to the guns fault. Nothing has happened again since.

We're headed to Front Sight at the end of April and we needed a backup gun for the classes. We also wanted a dedicated home defense pistol.

Remember, pictures of the new pistol or it didn't happen!

Happy shooting and be safe!

I've been told that a chopstick is a useful tool!
