Default CZ Custom CTS SP-01 Accu Shadow project and CGN members versions

This will be my long range pistol project. Inspired by the Checkmate and CTS longslide, I purchased a Tactical Sport 9mm slide with the 5.4" barrel from Stuart of CZC which they will be fitting it onto one of my Shadow Target frames. I purchased the Leupould Delta Point 4moa to co-witness a front fiber optic and ordered the Accubushing mod for this slide. I had Stuart send out their silver raw aluminum large magwell to get black anodized and also purchased the short black anodized aluminum grips to fit this.

The longer sight radius along with the RDS should make this a pretty fun steel plate gun. The extra weight with the light rail dust cover and longer slide assembly should make felt recoil for 9mm feel like a .22. I've already converted it to SAO with the CZ straight trigger giving it a super short reset which should make getting back on target for this gun very fast. The Accubushing should also make this a very accurate long range target pistol. CZC modified the slide to fit on the Shadow Target frame from a program on their CNC that modifies it for the CTS Shadow.

The SP01 Shadow Target slide was sold to help fund this project.

It's done! Stuart sent pics to my phone. I also bought black slim aluminum grips and had them anodize their magwell but they weren't installed on the gun in these pics. You can make out the accubushing from the side profile. The slide was refinished blued. A front fiber optic sight of 9.5mm height by 1mm was installed.

Big thanks to the CZC gunsmith who performed the job and Stuart for overseeing my project. Now that's a CZ Custom gun!

What do you consider "long range" for a pistol?

that combination is what the CTS was, a tac sport slide on a Shadow frame. Do a custom grip with brace and extend the barrel and nix the red dot and you got a nice gun for free pistol

Except mine will have the SP-01 light rail dust cover. Yeah, just watched the CZ 2013 Shotshow interview which they talked about that pistol. They haven't posted one for 2014 SS yet.

It will look more the Waffen Oschatz Viper model. Those Nill grips look amazing.

I'd love to have that slide since I have a hole on my regular SP-01 slide since the FP block was removed, but yeah, I can't justify the cost considering it costs more than my gun itself (before mods)

I was thinking about doing this, but they never seem to have it in stock... and it's only 129 less than what I paid for my full gun Rather just have another CZ and the FP block hole doesn't really bug me.

Your welcome, they seem to sell their long slides, grips, and comp holsters. The pricing doesn't seem so bad and we shouldn't have to pay VAT. I guess I'll be doing both my Shadow Targets.

The CTS costs $2400 so if you have an SP-01 Shadow or 75 Shadow just by adding the TS slide to your frame plus customizing it with either aluminum short grips/ aluminum large magwell or the wood Nill grips you can replicate one at a little over half the cost.

I just tried my TS 40 slide on my 75b and it hits the trigger bow, I have not seen the shadows trigger bow, but the TS is only one sided.

There's some hand fitting needed and with some modification to the barrel peanut. I ordered a 8" Arkansas tri stone with 220, 600, 1200 grit. Behind the muzzle, under the rail that the recoil spring/rod is housed needs material to be removed to fit to clear the dust cover of the frame. On the barrel peanut that the guide rod rests against needs 1.5mm of material removed at a 90 degree angle to the barrel, then I would re-drill a small countersink for the guide rod to be retained in.

This project was done by a member on the czfirearms.us forum PROJECT: SP-TS Shadow with Range Report where he modified the inside of the frame dust cover and TS slide but I will only modifying the slide area that makes contact to the frame so I can leave all Shadow Target frame untouched to retain the integrity of the SP-01 Shadow Target. I may have CZC do all the modifications to the slide and barrel peanut since I would still have to send the slide in for reblueing and since the slide is still there. They would make all the modifications on a cnc. I've contacted Stuart to find out pricing for that.

Talked to Robert of CZC and decided to have them do all the modifications. Their work is a more precise machining process as they already have that programmed on their cnc machine for the CTS. I bought the slide Friday so they are keeping it to do the modifications which entail doing the cuts on the slide and modifying the lower lug on the barrel to fit onto my SP-01 Shadow Target. After the cuts and deburring they will refinish the slide. To ensure a perfect fit I will be sending my Shadow Target frame into them. $230 is what it will cost to do everything. It's an 8 week estimated time to complete the work so I may ask them to add an Accubushing within that time period funds permitting. I have already ordered the 3.5moa Deltapoint and EGW mount. I may send rds together with the slide to have them install it while it's there. The slide comes with tall fixed rear and tall black front (suppressor) sight so after replacing the rear I may be able to cowitness the front with the red dot. Other mods I'm contemplating are short black aluminum slim grips with their large magwell anodized black.

> The longer sight radius along with the RDS

... but if you put the RDS on, doesn't that make sight radius 'irrelevant'. I would have assumed adding an RDS to a slide would pretty much make a SP01 and TS about equivalent in accuracy, the stock slides and barrels anyway?
