Default Belt and Rig for IDPA/USPSA?

I've only shot a couple IDPA matches but plan on getting more into it and doing some USPSA also.

I dont have a dedicated belt and have been looking around. The rules for IDPA are different, is there a belt out there that can be used for both? Would be shooting production in USPSA and SSP in IDPA.

Shooting a 1911 9mm or MP Pro 9mm. Might do a 3gun but that's down the road.

Thanks for the info.

Wilderness Instructor belt. Get the 5 stitch with the liner.
Been using them for 10 years for IDPA, USPSA and 3 Gun.
Best choice out there unless you go with a inner and outer belt system which is not legal for IDPA.

Check out the RDR Custom Kydex Facebook page. He has a special where you get a Cobra buckle belt, double kydex mag pouch and kydex holster with a Surefire handheld light for $150. I think the special ends today.

CR Speed, use both belts for USPSA or 3 Gun and just the interbelt for IDPA.

I use a CR Speed belt, but I don't shoot IDPA. It's too slow and simple after shooting USPSA and 3Gun for a few years.

I also use the Wilderness Instructor belt. Great product, and I use it for IDPA and USPSA Production. I don't shoot 3Gun because I don't own one of those goofy shirts that let you pretend to be a pro shooter, so I can't venture opinion there regarding belts.

The belt I wear everyday, a Wilderness Tactical 5 Stich, is the belt I use for USPSA/3 gun/IDPA and carry. The one with the liiner is stiffer which is better for competition.

How are you going to learn to be tactical then?

The Uncle Mikes "Instructor Belt" actually surprised me when I got it for the off time that I shoot IDPA. It may not hold up to decades of use, but it's my IDPA belt for now.

CR Speed for USPSA matches. I used 5.11 Tactical Apex Gunner for IDPA.

IDPA, just use the belt that you use for your pants at work. USPSA, I like the blade tech competition belt.

For any and all gun games, the stiffer the belt the better. Conventional belts are too floppy and cause the holster to rock around.

Course it doesn't matter to me because I wear the Wildnerness 5 stitch for an every day belt.

Here is what I use, with some links to help on your shopping quest. Don't bother trying to go to local stores unless you feel very lucky, I tried that last year and ended up mail ordering everything, would have saved me many miles on the car and some time. I am focused on USPSA matches and shoot IDPA for "fun" so I use my daily ccw gear for IDPA.

Belt:
USPSA CR Speed belt.
IDPA 5.11 Leather basketweave belt with stiffner (Amazon!)

Magazine Carriers:
Kytex (https://www.kytexgear.com/)

Holster:
USPSA Limited Bladetech
Production G-Code from (http://www.tacticalholsters.com/)
IDPA my IWB CCW Holster (https://www.harwellholsters.com/)

Don't forget some places like http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/ or http://www.doublealpha.biz/ having lots of gear focused for gun games.

CR Speed.

Both inner and outer belt for USPSA.

Outer belt only through belt loops for IDPA.

Can I use suspenders?

For USPSA, I picked up a 2 1/4" "Duty Belt" at he surplus store for $10. Then added some cheapo nylon double mag holders with the flaps cut off. The nylon mag holders are remarkably good! I had a nylon holster but quickly upgraded to a bladetech holster, which was my big splurge. I also have a $15 "BDU" or "range" belt that was $15 at the same surplus store. I actually started with that belt, but bought the duty belt (inner + outer stiff belt) because during my first match, it was really hot so I drank a ton of water and every time I went to the bathroom, the range required us not to scare people by wearing holsters to the bathroom ... so I had to keep unthreading the holster/mag holders from the belt to go pee, then come back and thread it all together through my pants loops... I got fed up and bought the duty belt.

The inner/outer combo lets you put your stuff where you want on the belt, without regard to the pants loops in your pants, and you can quickly divest yourself of your gear when before you hop into your car.

I would suggest to the OP to start with his daily pants belt and decide what's required as he sees fit.

I just started using suspenders on my Single Stack rig (Double Alpha belt, 42oz 1911, 6 8-round mags, dump pouch, and ear muff clip). I should have started a using them a long, long, long time ago. If you are a little more "rotund" around the midsection (like me), suspenders are a God send.

These are the ones I got:
