Default PPT Transfer Question

I am gong to to a private party transfer at an FFL of a Rifle. I have three questions.

1. Is there a 10 day waiting period?
2. Do I need to buy a gun lock?
3. Does this fit in the 1 gun per 30 days?

Thanks

1. Yes
2. Depends on the place
3. No, PPT's are exempt from the 1 per 30 rule

1.) Yes
2.) Not if you have a receipt for a lock purchased within 30 days or you can fill out a safe affidavit.
3.) No

There is another way around this, go to the local PD, they generally give locks away. Have them give you a proof of date receipt on their letterhead. I just did this on Monday when I picked up a PPT on a Kimber, no problems as long as the lock is on the PRK approved list.

The gun lock thing is really annoying and I really don't see a point in a 10 day waiting period for long rifles, if the Brady bunch is so fixated on handguns.

Then again, I know that all guns, especially those over .22LR for handguns and more than a 3 round capacity for shotguns or rifles are the on the anti-s XXXX list.

Something I'm sure most people here will find interesting - some of the free locks given out in the past were not on the "approved" list.

Ironic, eh?

all the best,

Mike

The thing that doesn't make sense is; why must you wait 10 days ("cooling off" period) if you already own a (or several) gun? If I already have one, why, in the heat of passion, would I go and legally purchase one to commit a crime??

It's mind bottling isn't it? You know, where you have all these thoughts trapped in your head like they're in a bottle?
