Default S&W M&P15 300 Whisper/Blackout Upper,

I was thinking a long while into getting one of these uppers, ($600 on black friday, but I can get one for $647 now). I researched around to see if I can find something better but, very few around at a low price, some are around $800-1000!? But the Smith has been Melonited in and out so a def Plus and doesn't look so cheap with that handguard.

S&W says their going to be discontinued, But many dealers have them in stock right now due to last years backorder issues.

My only concern is the ammo cost at the moment and longevity of it. at a $1.40 on average a round it's pretty expensive, wondering if it's ever going to go down over time. the 6.5/6.8 has a small niche market and seeing the 300blk having that same issues. Mind ya it's a nice intermediate round and I like the compatibility. But should I dip my toe in though?

If you reload you should. If you don't then it's a question of money

If you reload, it's a cheap cartridge to shoot.

Yes of course. If I had the room and the gear to reload I would do that. Well the Upper is affordable and available, But the ammo is expensive and scarce.

Southwestammo has a pretty good deal on 147 gr but they are out of stock right now.

If you are interested in an unused PSA hammer forged .300 I was thinking about selling mine for a little less than that. I ran out of money for my other build so I have to get rid of something.

That's still a lot of money for an upper, have you checked out Model1Sales? more options.
Oh and yes you should reload for this caliber I prefer to call it 7.62x35.
just need your .223 bolt for this one: http://www.armslist.com/posts/243124...-model-1-sales

Buy the upper, but it will be July or so before the ammo is around. It really is a handloader deal at this point.
