Default Reeds on Friday Nights - Ok for taking new shooters?

So I might be taking someone to shoot tonight. Looks like Reeds is my only choice for the evening. It's basically a date and she is a new shooter.

My experience with new shooters is that lots of gunfire around them already gets them on edge and takes some of their enjoyment away, as well as make it a little harder to provide some basic instruction. (when they flinch at the crack of every round)

So how are Friday nights at Reeds?

(I'll probably go anyway, but just want to know what to prepare her for)

I rather shoot at Reeds then at Target Masters on a friday night anytime. There is a big difference in the quality of shooters between the two places. I say get the basics done outside where she can hear you, and then once inside go over them again, at least that way she can warm up to the gunfire while you are going over things again. Just make sure she is as comfortable as possible and you will have a great date. Good luck and have fun!!!

Friday nights can get busy at Reed's but if you can get there around 5 or 6 you will be fine.

Ask when you get there if you can get the first or end lane. A little easier.

Also when i first took my boys we did all the basics with loading mags, dry firing, safety, ejecting, slide lock etc at home with snap caps for a few nights. Made a huge difference as they had they general mechanics fairly dialed.

Good luck and make sure she wears the foam ear buds under the ear muffs. Reeds can get loud with shotguns and knuckle heads with .50 cal hand cannons

Thanks for the info guys. Wasn't able to go last week as planned but hope to take her soon. Reeds was the only option Friday after she got off work but hopefully I can get her to my usual range (Centermass or USI) on a weekday.

target masters isnt that bad on fridays anymore. as we do get the occasional new shooters as well as the wannabes trying to show off, we usually help as much as we can. sometimes even accommodate people by putting them where there arent big loud guns going off. Wednesday all day is 5 dollar lane rental and 5 dollar gun rental. second shooter is 6 and then ammo costs. been to reeds and just dont like the service i get there
