Looking to get more involved, are newbs invited? Would love to come out and meet some like minded people from here. Also, being my first time out, anything I need to bring?

Everyone that can be safe is invited (The range policy about children must be over 12 though). We have had new shooters the last couple months attend and they told me they had a great time.

Its hard to know anyones level when they say they are new so the things I list will probably sound obvious:
Range fee
Allowed firearms
Allowed ammo
Eye and Ear Protection
Appropriate Clothing and shoes

I don't know if you have firearms or not but generally most people are willing to let you shoot a magazine thru what they have. It would be good to bring ammo in common calibers that you are interested in shooting.
The range also does rentals (which I am not 100% sure if they are available during the shoot but I would think they are) For those you probably have to buy their ammo.
As the first post states we will have a NRA Pistol Instructor on hand that will be helping people new and old.

Its a good time to get some shooting in, try different firearms and meet like minded individuals. Maybe also try the NRA winchester program when you have more experience.

Thank you Chaos47 for your response. I know gun safety really well beings I have been around guns (responsibly) my whole life. Shooting on the other hand, not so much. Definitely need some (by some I mean a whole lot) range time... At the same time I respect this group and would have no problems leaving mine at home to get to know everyone better. If leaving mine at home is preferred, I can bring a few boxes of .40 that I have or stop by the store and pick up a couple boxes of 9. It would just be myself, beings I work that day. I do get out at 4:30, so if any help is needed for set up I can certainly do that as well.

If you have firearms then bring them.
Like I said its hard to know what someone means when they say they are new so my statements where blanket to try to cover as many possibilities.

Oh one thing I forgot on the list is targets but the range has a large variety for sale at a reasonable price so you can get those at the range.

We have setup covered just come out and enjoy!

I missed last month and really want to make it this time. I recently picked up an AMT 45 Long Slide (out of Terminator) and it is my new favorite!

I'll give Rancho Magnum a try... The NRA/Winchester Pistol Qualification Program sounds fun.

Just Me, Myself, and I!

Didn't this IE shoot used to be in Beaumont?

As far as I know the Beaumont shoot never got off ground so no.
Added you to the list

The NRA Winchester program is fun. Many of us will be working on the Marksman First Class part at the next shoot.
But everyone is welcome to join and start along their course.
For the first two levels you can bring your own 9" plates or we will have packs for purchase.

We had at least ONE in Beaumont because I attended. At the time I didn't think it was meant to be a monthly thing, more like a rotating event.

Casey let us the back room behind (well, behind the shooters) the rifle range.

Wow - Just read about the new introduced pistol qualifications, sounds cool.

Pistol Qual is not required its just something we are offering/ doing for fun/ self challenge and betterment.
You are welcome to give it a try or do your own thing at the shoot.
We try to group the people doing the Qual on one side though so we can answer questions about rules.

There is no fee to do it..
But the targets (and plates for first 2 parts) and the award packages are available for purchase.
You are welcome to bring your own 9 inch paper plates to use as targets to do the first two stages.
You are also not required to buy the award packages. (Which unfortunately we still do not have yet) But if you do want to submit to the NRA for the last stage of Distinguished Expert then you are supposed to have obtained all of the previous award packages to be eligible.

Details and prices can be found here:

As Chaos47 mentioned I am happy to help anyone that would like a little bit of instruction. I will be introduced and have a tag but the easiest thing to do is look out for the guy with the English accent.

Roster updated.

With our numbers getting so big I want to make sure people understand that if you are bringing people you will be sharing a lane. Also you are responsible for the people you bring if they are new.

Also it looks like everyone will be sharing lanes. I hope that is ok. The lanes are decent size so you could probably shoot side by side. Or work out turns amongst yourselves. ie one person shooting the other loading magazines

Sharing a Lane is no problem...I would expect nothing less... Thank you for letting us bring guests.

I'll be there! What is the planned course of fire for the quals?

Although after my last attempt at a 30yd pistol target I'm going to need help for any marksman qualification. On a good day 30 years ago I could make BE all day. Now I'm consistently 3-4" left at that distance... Glock 17, and I've shot them for over 20 years. Is anyone taking a Glock rear sight adjustment tool I could borrow?

Getting old sucks! Luckily I'm still good with a rifle irons or scoped. But I don't think I want to pay $30 for 20 rds of frangible just to take my EBR to this shoot.
