Default sort of Tried sly park before

Did not go beyond the parking lot as I was with my kids that day. How far is the "walk" down to the actual shooting spot? Thanks.

I've been to Oroville but never been to Spence ville yet.

Also, I'm looking for a "depredation" type of Pig hunt near NorCal. It seems that this route of pig hunt is impossible if you have no farmer connections.

If you want to see people act like idiots with guns then go here. I have never felt safe at this range. Got to a point where I was taking a handgun down range with me. Then I just stopped going all together.

Lincoln is a nice place to target shoot. Just call ahead to see if they are open to the public before you go. They do comp shooting on some weekends.

I met a guy in the ER recently who got shot in the shin out there. People were shooting while others are downrange. The shooter was gone before being ID'd.

For target shooting you should try Sac Valley Shooting Range.
Lots of choices there.
As mentioned, just to many a--holes morons on public land.

theres like 5 or 6 spots to shoot at off bonetti road, gets kinda muddy in some spots. if you stopped at the parking lot off mormon emigrant trail, you have at least a couple miles to hike in. toyota camrys and honda accords drive out there, so im not sure why youd need to walk down.

Sac Valley
Lincoln
El Dorado Rod and Gun

If you go as far as Sly Park/Bonetti Road, you could go out Iron Mountain/Mormon Immigrant Trail and find side roads. Or outside Georgetown, Foresthill... That is all forest land. Check with Plink; they could tell you. Or meet up with them and see where they go
http://www.edrgc.com/plink.htm

They say there are deer in the national forest; all the ones I see are in peoples gardens in the foothills...

Sac Valley is great range, especially if you get over on the 600m steel, or the action ranges...

Thumbs down Awesome!

I took my family there last weekend and we had a blast!

Cleaned up afterwards. Unfortunately I saw some garbage everywhere left by "other" shooters.

Out Lead Hill? That's where my Dad and uncles and lots of others used to shoot in the '40's, 50's, and I think in to the '60's. 'Course, Douglas was a lazy 2-lane country road back then too.

Do people still shoot at the levee outside Davis? I haven't been there in a decade, but it was nice to drive 10 minutes and shoot. Not the greatest spot, but certainly convenient.

I used to live out in Wheatland and Spenceville is a great place to shoot when you go really early before the yahoos come out. I've been there and this group of guys took a 5gal propane tank up the hill to shoot... If you don't mind the cold and at sunrise, it's nice to be the only one there for another 1-2hrs.

I'm actually heading there tomorrow at 7am to sight in my new AR if anyone reads this in time!
