I wish this was the worst idea the BHO administration ever had.

I had to double check the calendar, see if it was April 1. That POS is hell bent on making the USA the laughing stock of the world!

I just went back and re-read this:

"Marine Corps head Gen. James Amos will make the final decision."

The NY Post is making it sound like the President is ordering the Marine Corps to do this, which in hindsight shouldn't be surprising considering the source. People here are having an unsurprisingly emotional response to it, so that got me thinking: this doesn't make sense. So after a little digging it looks like it's just another slanted political piece.

http://www.stripes.com/news/us/marin...-hats-1.248963

So, the Marine Corps Uniform Board, which meets quarterly, decided to gather feedback in advance of its meeting next week. Active and Reserve Marines were asked to vote on whether they believe women should adopt the current male cover, with some small modifications, or for all Marines to adopt what they call the Dan Daly cap.

Commandant Gen. James Amos must approve any uniform board recommendation before it takes effect.

In an email, Marine Corps officials said there is no truth to reports that President Obama is behind the potential change.

"The president in no way, shape or form directed the Marine Corps to change our uniform cover,” according to the Marine Corps statement. “We are looking for a new cover for our female Marines for one overriding reason: The former manufacturer went out of business. … The Marine Corps has zero intention of changing the male cover.

So we were duped. Moving on....

Remember the April Fools article about moving away from the beret a few years back? I think it was in Stars and Stripes and they quoted some made up general about how everyone in the US Army will be moving to Stetsons. It caused a ****storm as everyone thought it was real and it was really funny.

I hope for the Marines sake that this is just a sick sick joke.

I made a pretty similar comment in the comments section on the Yahoo article covering this. Didn't go over too well, but I thought it was funny.

I remember when the Air Force phased out the bus driver cap completely. I think it might be back. The flight cap was more comfortable, and easier to stow. But there was something about the bus driver cap that screamed "military" and commanded respect. My favorite picture of myself is the one from boot in that cap. When younger relatives see it their eyes perk up. They all know I was in the military, but I have such a laid back personality in person that they have a hard time picturing it. Until they see the photographic evidence. That picture seems to always be the one that gets the most attention.

So I kinda sorta feel the Marines pain, though the flight cap was no where near as "girly" as what they are about to get saddled with.

Still beats any kind of beret no matter what the color or insignia on it.

I asked my son about this, he is a career officer. He said they were all surveyed about this a couple of weeks ago and soundly rejected the idea. But as the article says, it's up to management.

This thread and the many others that have popped up on this non-issue are good examples showing how hyper-partisans will freak out about anything as long as it serves their narrative. They don’t care whether it’s true or not.

Uniforms don't make the soldier.

Caps, berets, or whatever is not important...we always find a way around these little issues. It's really not important at all.
