Default Shield a No Go for Turner's???

I was in the Turner's Chino Hills store this afternoon. I asked the sales person helping me about the Shield. He stated that Turner's would not be getting any in. He said that for the past year and a half that every time Turner's asked S&W about the CA Shield, it was another 3 months out. He said that the last time Turner's asked them, S&W said that Turner's would not be getting any. I guess S&W got tired of people asking about it. It looks like they had a recall on the Shield anyway. That may be part of the delay.

He said that anyone who put down a deposit could roll it over to another gun, or get a refund.

So, what CA legal small handgun would be a good one, which would be small enough for concealed carry? I like the looks of the XDS 9mm. But, it is not CA legal and it has a recall too.

They are not illegal, they just aren't approved. One could still get one lawfully.

You could look into the baby Glocks or compact M&Ps, if you want to go smaller you could look into the Ruger or Kahr series.

You should check out OCArmory.com if you're looking for a SW M&P Shield. It may be worth a trip, but call them first before making that drive to Lake Forest.

Same thing if you're considering an XDs. The XDs feels really nice. The trigger has a crisp break and the reset is nice. The front sight is really fast due to the red fiber optic.

Nobody can predict if and when the Shield will come in. The Smith website still says Fall 2013 but they were due last November. Now that the gun has a potential problem with the drop safety this issue could add to the delay. Turner's is good about transferring the deposit to another firearm and you could probably even get a full refund. Bottom line... roll the $ over to a Glock or SA XD

Sig P238, Ruger LC9, SR9c, Baby Glock, Kimber Ultra CDP II. I rolled my Shield into a M&P 9c and that is a great firearm I love. it.

I have a deposit on one. I'm not really in a hurry to get one and not looking to SSE. I emailed S&W a few months ago and they said no expected eta. I just emailed them last week and got a response stating the shield is expected to be available in December. Take that for what it's worth.

Get a Kahr CW9. Can't beat it for the price and it's quite narrow and small compared to a Glock 26. Love mine-have had it for years and it seems to shoot even better now.
