No, the M&P came out in 2005 so it isn't possible for someone to have standard capacity magazine that they can legally rebuild

But you can buy a kit to take out of state and use there.

I just tried - no go... only two per customer (I was hoping per day)...
So unless you have more than one account on Midway, you're (we're) out of luck. I'm expecting it to be like .308 PMAGS, once they appeared at one retailer, it didn't take long for them to be all over... I'm hoping others start showing M&P 9 mags soon. |

have you guys modified your 10 rounders?... the interwebz chatter is true, it's impossible to load a tenth round...
for those have have modified, is shaving down the follower legs sufficient? Or do you have to cut spring too?... *caveat to kommifornia legislature lurkers - this is not a loop-hole question... S&W uses same spring & follower in their 10 round commie mags as they do their 17 round Free State mags... if you (ca law makers) are too stupid to understand - that means, our butchered mag bodies cant accommodate the guts that the manufacture intended. It was definitely the follower legs... there are lots of reports on various forums, but some say cut spring and shave follower legs... it has nothing to do with the spring. I removed spring, loaded ten round with only the follower in, held the mag upside-down (so the first round was seated against feed lips just as it would be with spring in) - the rear follower legs were sticking out past the bottom of mag by about 1/8". This is clearly why the tenth round wouldn't go in - it bottoms out on the floorplate. I marked the legs right at the end of mag and shaved 'em down with Dremel. had to do two test fits (wanted to be sure not to take too much off and able to get 11 rounds in). Mags function properly now. I realize this is an old problem and there are a bunch of DIY threads and vids... but I hadn't experienced it personally until getting these mags - so I figured I'd mention it here. BTW, the spring and follower are identical to the 17 round mags (I have two that are blocked to 10)... I took apart and compared (I guess S&W doesn't want to bother making the shorter spring & follower for ten round body)... so if you don't want to bother with modifying the 10 rounders, get 17 and block them - they use normal floor plate so there is plenty of clearance. |
