Default Anyone apply for State Park Peace Officer Ranger/Lifeguard?

Dept of Parks and Rec took applications in August for SPPO Ranger and Lifegaurd cadets and last week I got notice that my app was accepted and I will be getting another notice about the date/location of the written exam. (I saw on the posting that the targeted written exam date is Nov 2 but we'll see)

Just wanted to see if anyone else applied or heard back?

How far did you get in the application process? Written, boards, PAT, background?

Congrats man! Hopefully I make it that far! (Although, the waiting is probably going to be not so fun)

The little packet of info regarding the written test came in the mail yesterday. Did anyone else get one? Is anyone taking the test in LA?

Thanks man, yeah I've heard its not too bad (However, i'm sure there are some people who fail it). Just looking to taking my time on it, scoring as high as possible, then getting onto the PAT and the board exam! Thank you for the kind words and I hope you get into an academy ASAP. I really hope they are not going to make you wait until the group of applicants I am in goes to an academy..

The hardest part of the pat is the step test because of how award it is. I don't have much waiting left.... October 31 is the start date!

The academy is now at Butte College. The written test is pass/fail, it's the interview that matters - so start preparing for that. If you're in decent shape the physical agility isn't hard at all, but don't let that keep you from training!

Interesting. Yeah im not super worried about the written or the PAT. I run and lift weights regularly (by no means am I marathon ready but I run 3-4 miles a day). Yeah im gonna be scheduling a ride along soon and then going to spend my time prepping for the oral.

Good luck everyone...I did my time and loved it, boat and jet ski patrol, not so much the horse patrol, pig deprivation, quad patrol, foot patrol, troll hunting :-) Wish I was still working.

Thanks! Definitely looking forward to it. I feel like I am prepared but I am just trying to heal up what I believe is a pulled calf muscle (Happened last weekend) but either way, I gotta make it happen.

Anyone have any final tips or advice?

Best of luck! Great career. I wasn't with the state, but spent 10 years with NPS in LE in the 1980's. Miss it every day...it's in my blood. Good luck and keep us posted.
