On 10/15/2013, we were the vicitm of a burglary. Stolen was a number of EO Tech optics and some ammunition. While all our guns were in the safe we did loose some larts and the optics. We are currently in the process of refunding all the sales that had been ordered and those that had been packed but not picked up yet. We apoligize for any inconvience and hope that you will remain our loyal customer.
This does not pass the smell test. I called them at about noon California time and spoke to a representative who immediately answered the phone. I inquired about a busted optic that I sent back for a unit in exchange and the rep said that they were extremely busy shipping out all of the optics today and that mine should be in the days shipment. Nothing was mentioned about a burglary (which you would think would come up if they were about to post that information on their web page) and secondly nothing was mentioned that the optic which I returned was possibly stolen.

Yea my call to them mentioned nothing about burglary only that the optics were not de milled and had to be returned so they were canceling orders.

They said they'd post to fb about it later.

Something smells fishy to me

Three different stories

1. Everything is fine and "we are working hard to get everything shipped out"

2. The sights need to be de-milled before shipping.
This story is no good either because there is nothing to de-mill, you can buy the exact same sight that the military gets directly from E0tech.

3. There was a burglary and everything was stolen.

Someone is not telling the truth here.

They might have gotten zapped by reselling Military gear, it's not uncommon. One of the reasons you don't see a lot of modern US surplus.

It could be as they say, just give them some time. They did right by many people here.

Just wanted to throw this out there just in case someone else would like to sell one, I would be very interested. I need a decent optic and never have the funds for something new. Sorry for the troll

I think they might be referring to the terms of the agreement they signed if they indeed got to buy directly from the Military. That might be why the whole thing got shut down, just a theory. The US Military really frowns upon selling certain types of equipment without lots of terms. Just a theory.

At this point I give them the benefit of the doubt, they have been very cool to deal with and I think everyone on here would agree an excellent retailer.

Just a heads up to everyone who bought an Eotech. I sent an email to Eotech to see about getting my used unit refurbished (clean up, hardware replaced, new hood, and new battery compartment, etc.). They asked for the serial number of my unit, which I gave them, then they proceeded to tell me this was sold to the military as restricted product, and they want to know who I bought it from. WTF???

ETA: I just sent Law-guns an email, and forwarded my conversation with Eotech on to them. We will see what happens I guess...

No, they might have got in trouble for selling used Military equipment. *Maybe* we don't know.

The US Gov sells off this stuff from time to time but makes the retailers agree to terms (maybe something like no resale to the public or demill, meaning take it apart and sell it as parts, etc.).

Received two 553s I ordered on the weekend. Both seem to function well.

Standard dust and Afghan dirt everyone else is seeing. One shroud had a pretty good bash in it right on top (right one in top pic). Other one was in much better condition than I expected. Overall I would say one was under priced and one was over...so I guess combined still good deal.

Reticles are crisp fro the most part (once I put my glasses on), just center dot is slightly elongated on both, almost like a vertical line.

I was also expecting FDE to be a paint job but pleasantly surprised it is oem finish and matches my Magpul furniture nicely...

I was considering picking up one more and when I went back to look, ran into the whole theft dealy. Hope that all gets sorted and no jack booted thugs show up on my doorstep. I read just now that refunds did go out...

from ar15.com
YMMV
Quote:
After purchasing the 553 on another site, i used it for a couple months and noticed the reticle would get dim in the far left bottom corner. No problem I thought as I read that eotech would refresh the sight and ship it back to me.

I filled out the form on their site and shipped it off to them, a few days later customer service emailed me and asked if I could call them. I called and the conversation started when they asked if I had the original receipt, of course I didn't as i purchased it used off a website. Then I was told they ran the serial number and the sight was flagged as belonging to the US government, and they could not repair it, could not send it back to me, and had to hand it over to the US government. The guy even said it came in the original crane(navy) box that I sent back with it.

I was out $450 bucks and had no sight. I will give no further details of my dealing with eotech but i wanted to state that :

As I had an itch to order one of the law guns eotechs as well...i couldn't bring myself to make the same mistake twice.

From my experience, I advise any of you who purchased any of these items NOT to send them back to the manufacturer...you will NOT get them back.

Law guns posted this on their facebook page today,

Quote:
For those of you waiting on refunds.
We spoke with the credit card company yesterday. The refunds have been processed. The credit card company saw the volume of returns and wanted to clarify if it was us that actually processed the returns. We guaranteed that we did in fact process the returns. They told me the money would be released yesterday. Depending on your bank it may take 3-5 days to show up in your account.
