Default $69.99 7.62X54R SPAM CAN PALMETTO STATE ARMORY

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...40rd-spam-can/

Not bad stuff. Got 4 cans last time and they where rusty cans but the ammo was excellent.

I don't know about this stuff. Looks risky. Sportsmans Guide isn't much more with the 4.99 shipping offer that's good for a few more minutes...

The metal cans did their job. They kept the moisture out and are junk. The ammo was flawless though

Can get 2 tins at SG for 200 shipped. Is the $30 in savings worth getting the rusted tins at PSA with no guarantee that the rounds will be okay?

Ok, I'm a bad, I just can't keep myself from buying ammo.

So TMJ= Total Metal Jacket, correct? Is this just a way of saying they used what ever they had at the time they made the projectile? Is there any steel in these projectiles?

Thanks OP, your a bad man

I received 6 cans of this stuff and they arrived today. When I opened the boxes I was shocked. I have more rust on my plastic bumpers than these things. Extremely happy. They should have just said someone spilled his cup of water near the crates and some may have landed on it. Excellent buy.

Yeah, I got two cans today and they look fine. One can has a little bit of rust and the other can is perfect.

Shipping kinda kills the deal. Only $5 more for two cans in a wooden crate through SG then 2 rusty cans through Palmetto when you factor in shipping.

Can 1 was very heavily rusted on the bottom

Can 2 was very crusty on the top ridge / rim

after inspection, some packs of ammo were broken open, some had slight discoloration, but all seemed shootable, exterior rust was so heavy, that even the shipping box was rusty along with receipt, so buy and roll the dice.

I don't even need to open this. Some surface rust but the can sealed and intact. I am certain the ammo inside is fine.

Figures that it goes out of stock right when they offer free shipping. Shipping killed the deal for me on these.

I've seen them come and go a couple times, keep a close eye on it through Sunday.

Mine showed up earlier this week and I was surprised to find it in excellent shape, just a little rust in one corner that didn't penetrate. That metal is really thin though, about like a thumbnail, wouldn't take much for it to get through.

The non water damaged ukranian comes
out to less than 180 with free shipping. Still a decent deal for 880 rounds, 21 cents a round. I have spent more for 9mm.

I dont know for sure about this particular ammo, but there is a common misconception about russian steel cased (often called bi-metal) ammo. People keep calling Tula and Wolf for example, "steel core" they are NOT steel CORE they are steel cases with steel JACKETED bullets with a a LEAD CORE - big difference.

The only commonly available ammo with a true " steel core" Im aware of is M855 5.56 ammo, can anyone who understands the distinction show me anything besides m855 that has a steel core????

I suspect that most all the milsurp 54R is also steel cased, steel jacketed projectiles- there is virtually no brass or copper in these types of ammo. This topic usually reverts to arguments about whether or not steel bullets damage barrels but since we're prolly' talking about disposable Mosins here, the point is moot...

Most mil-surp 7.62x54R has copper washed steel cases. The bullets on most of what we see for sale including this ammo from Palmetto State Armory, which appears to be Lugansk factory 60, is light ball mild steel core or LPS. This symbol ЛПС on the tin denotes this. http://62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmoID01.htm
