Default Recipe for Cheapest 223/308 Plinking Loads

I see a lot of people have recipes for their loads, but I want to reload for plinking, What is the bottom line cheapest powder, bullets, and primers to use for plinking reloads?

Surplus powder like WC 844 or WC 846. You only need 24.0-25.0gr for a 55/62gr bullet.

Ditto. I've been looking for 846 or 4895 and have been coming up dry....

The same places where everyone else has been getting it.

As far as surplus 4895, it doesn't exist anymore. All that surplus 'like' 4895 is from pulldown Lake City 30-06. Since that pretty much has been bought up by the consumer market, there's no source.

10% lower than starting load? Hmmm... I need to go make some practice ammo and hope to god I didn't make 3,000 squibs.

23.5 gr DP73 powder (~$60 shipped/8lbs), pulled m193 ($103 shipped/3K), WSR primers ($18/K), and range pickup brass.

The DP73 powder was a special run from powdervalley. Between them and natchez I got DP68, 73, 74, 79, and 2230c. It all averaged out to about $70/8lbs.

Plinking loads are CCI400 primer... any case I can get my greedy, grubby little hands on (don't matter if the cases are commercial or GI) 25.0gr H335 (meters like a bat out of hell on a 650) I use this combo on either a 55gr FMJ or a 62gr FMJ....
