"...She's my pride and joy..."

This was when I first bought it. I'm a huge fan of the traditional wood stock & now I have an EOTech sight mounted on it. It's really tempting to get an EBR stock though!

Another question... do you think the scope mount you used would work with a stock VLTOR rail on a Socom 2? Thanks again.

Thanks, pdaddy. Took me a few different configurations, before finally deciding on this one.

Specs:

Troy Industries M14 Battle Rail
Pride Fowler 1-4x24 CQLR-1 with LaRue Tactical SPR-E Mount

Sure, the LT scope mount could work on a SOCOM II Vltor rail. But, you would need to install the scope mount "backwards" to achieve proper eye relief.

Thanks deez! Could you please inform me on whether or not I should be concerned about the height of the scope...it seems a bit high, but with the cheek rest I am thinking it should work out fine for me. Thanks again.

That's one of the challenges of the M14 platform, mounting optics necessitates the use of some sort of cheek rest to get proper alignment & cheek weld. Using the type of rail setups above plus a QD type of mount designed for ARs puts the optic a little higher even. But with a high cheek rest like shown above it is ok

Alternately, you can go for the more traditional type of M14 mount to get the optic a little bit lower. e.g. below (pic I found on the net, not mine)

Quick noob question..

Can you remove the rail on the scout and replace the handguard with a standard traditional handguard. Im not going to run an optic. I haven't got a chance to even look at how the rail is attached in detail since it's in jail still. But was planning on buying a standard handguard.

Also the clip that's already on there can be transferred to the new handguard right? I see the option to buy it with the clip already installed. Just making sure so I don't need to waste the extra 6$

Will post pics when outa jail

Yes, the rail can be removed very easily with an allen wrench. It's just 6 screws.

Yes, the clip can be transferred from one hand guard to another, but it can be a little difficult without the clip removal tool. It's easier just to pay a little more for a hand guard with the clip already installed.

Yes. The Scout Rail/HG can be removed and replaced with a standard HG. The rail basically clamps together onto the barrel with screws.

Yes. Just be careful not to crack/break the HG when swapping the HG Clip, though.

Thanks guys ^

Got it outa jail and ya, after a quick disassembly the rail was off in like 30 seconds, hardest part was getting the clip off the old handguard without the tool, but managed to rig and make use of some big snap ring pliers I had.

Went smooth, and looks better without the silly rail

When compared with the SAGE EBR and TROY MCS... the Rogue offers compactness and balance, the weight is very well
distributed making it easier to carry for a longer period of time. Another plus is that it can be more easily cleaned in the field.

I handled that stock the other day at ASC and it is really nice. The weight is amazingly balanced. I don't know if it's my "thing" but is definitely A thing.

There are some great looking rifles in this thread. I will post pictures of mine soon. I just need to upload them.

This picture will have to suffice for now.

Still in the original packaging!

Alright, that was quick. Got the rifle a while ago, took me almost 4 years to build up the marbles to take a couple of cans of spray paint to it. Started out black, built a makeshift spray booth in the garage, masked it off and went to town.

Also had two of the local Mormons come by the garage at about 9a.m. to see if I needed any help with anything like they usually do. Must of been a sight to see for them, 9a.m. gun hanging from the ceiling, music going good and a cold beer at the ready! I was taking a couple of vacation days, hence the cold beer for breakfast.

On to the pictures.

I hear you and others out there, but I don't think a left hand
friendly version of the Rogue will be available for a year or so.

Also, I have no idea how they will make it left hand friendly.

The only way I can see them making it work for a lefty is designing a new oprod but there is still the ejection issue... Regardless it is a SWEET set up. I bet that sucker handles NICE.

It handles like a dream and yes, it will require an op rod with the handle relocated... ejection is another matter.

When you have some one actually holding the rifle it doesn't seem so disproportionately tall, infact it looks pretty nice. But on it's own it looks very bulky.

Thanks!

I did not refinish this stock, all I have done to it is oil it. It came from Treeinem at http://treelinem14.com/

I am very happy with their stocks and pricing.
