Default Where's the best place to zero my AR-15 in Sac?

I recently finished building my first AR-15. I now need to zero it out. Ideally I'd like to go to an indoor range for this purpose, but the limited distance (25-yards) won't cut it. So that leaves outdoor ranges. The problem is I have to wait for the range to be clear before I can check my grouping. Any suggestions on where I can go to quickly get this dialed in?

I was thinking about the same place. I can't believe how much the outdoor ranges charge now. Seems like in the old days it was a flat $5.

Its unfortunate that the prices have gone up but I would rather pay a little more then have a lack of ranges. Going up to the hills is great but sometimes not feasible with gas prices, the current fire situations or whatever the situation may be. If you decide to head out to LRC drop me a pm and ill be glad to go too.

RCCC is the closest outdoor but it's only a 25 and 100 yard. SVCS is not close so although it's nice it's at least an hour from north highlands. The gun range is close but I don't think they go past 25 yards do they?

Sac Valley Shooting Center is your best bet. You don't have to wait for a cease fire to check your groups. They rent very decent spotting scopes for $ 3 for the whole day.

And cease fires are only every fifteen minutes, so it's not like you'd be standing around.

If I were in a hurry, I'd staple up four "Five of Diamonds" targets onto one frame and work through them until you get it right. That would give you 20 opportunities to adjust with only one target frame setup to do.

As for cease fires, it's a safety thing, and people use it to stretch, drink some water, load magazines, go to the facilities, get a snack etc. There's no harm in taking a break every so often. And SVSC's fee is for the DAY, not by the hour.

There's a three hundred yard range there to use, assuming you can hit the mark at 300 with an AR15.... And you can get a membership ($ 62.50) that lets you in 7 days a week for five dollars a day.

Thanks for the info. Definitely sounds like it'll work for me.

You could do a battlesight zero at 25, then verify at 100.

Sac valley! I'm really surprised when people don't know about the world class operation they have out there. That place is huge and well maintained (except for LEOs leaving brass)

Just to clarify for some, that membership amount aboive is pro-rated. That's not for a full, 1-year membership

Roushstage2 is right, the 62.50 price is for the remainder of 2013. Starting Jan 2014, the non-voting memberships will be $ 125 per year.

Membership gets you a $5 daily shooting fee (the whole day) and 7.5% discount in the range office (ammo, cleaning tools, targets, etc). Yes! An actual discount on ammo!

But can you reserve a bay without being a voter?

Ick. It went that way due to existing members not being able to reserve their favorite bays as soon as they wanted I'd assume.

When I inquired about the new changes, that is basically what I was told.

There was a discussion about the situation here.

Dillman Range in Lincoln is $10.00. You have bays that are 200 +. Yes, you will have to wait for a cease fire, but they call them about every 20 min to 1/2 hour.

I like Dillman range in Lincoln too. And they have spotting scopes available to use for free, I've never had to wait to use one even though they're shared by everyone.

Yolo lets you shoot from standing, kneeling, bech rest, and prone. 50 and 100 yds. Pretty cheap too. check days of operation and hours.
