OK, took the SVT apart and I am not able to take part #5 (gas cylinder) off. I suspect it might be rusted shut with the regulator, preventing its free rotation. I have kroil soaking it right now but I doubt it'll help much. Is it time for a quick blowtorch heatup to loosen things up?

OK , well don't rush it or force it. You definitely don't want to bugger anything up. Keep Kroiling it up, squirt some into the cylinder hole, then see if its getting thru into the barrel.

Let it work in for a few days. Kroil is great stuff.. it will seep. It takes time to get into the rusty threads

The gas cylinder is screwed onto the adjustment plug, correct? Unscrewing direction is counter-clockwise? It isn't anything weird like the M91 barrel bands, where unscrewing direction is actually clockwise?

If that is the case I would like to go as a guest and bring my SKS and some Golden Tiger, as well as my K98 and some Yugo surplus ammo. Anyone in this thread would be welcome to shoot anything I bring.

How hard is it to become affiliated with the club and be qualified to order from CMP?

Not hard at all. Pay $50 for the year which gets you limited membership (limited range use, Fridays through Sundays) at $5 per visit. I believe non-members can join you for $10.

Not sure about CMP affiliation (Armistice might have confirmed this, since he brought it up). I would check on the CMP website to see if they are an affiliated club.

They are an affiliated club, I'm about to order a Garand myself

Here is the club info on the CMP site:

OK. According to the WEGC website, payment and application for limited memberships can be paid at the range, which I will do. Does having a limited membership at WEGC qualify one to order from CMP?

As far as I know yes, as long as you are a member of the club. The type of membership doesn't matter.

Has anyone bought a rifle from CMP based on the WEGG limited membership?

The rules on their website say no armor piercing or incendiary either.

How do they feel about the bouncy orange plastic cubes and stars which they insult you for bringing to Angeles?

The problem with those is that you end up either hitting other people's targets(which happened at the first C&R shoot) or the ricochet's could go in to the hills and possibly start a fire. I am sure they are allowed though.

Edit: I have been corrected.

If I am lucky, I will have a Garand by the 29th. Of course, ammo is another issue!

They no longer alow shooting ground targets due to rounds bouncing up into the hills and starting fires.

Hang them with a rope from a stand.

Is it a Burro type setup where you rent/buy target frames or is it strictly BYOTF?

Kind of a stretch to say that's (one of the reasons) why so much cheap ammo, I know; but it's in line.

For me it's a sex addiction and hooker problem but I told the wife that if I buy guns I don't have any money for hookers.

Self therapy. Think I could write it off as medical expenses?

I actually used to collect women before I got into to guns. Let me tell you, guns are way cheaper, don't ask for jewelry, are quiet, and I can bang them any day of the month I want

They aren't allowed for your second reason. Heard the RO tell one of our guys that last time out when he tossed some onto the range. He said it was a new rule because of the recent fire.

Do you guys know if that is just at closer range or at the 100 meter too? I was thinking of getting some of the knockdown silhouette animal targets to place at 100 meters.

i think a target frame repair bill is in the mail ARMISTICE. ha ha.i made sure i have a extra chain and extra adjustable chain ends. i beefed up everything. i think for how much money i have in the frame set up i could put a SVT 40 on layaway.

this shoot is a month away and look how huge the turn out is going to be. the other shooters are going to think C&Rs are the latest rage.
i think we do need to come up with a plan for some competition.

We definitely need to set up some kind of action shooting competition with milsurps like the guys at Forgottenweapons.com did here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOUfPX_y4Nk

How awesome would this be, doing some intense course of fires with our old war horses?
