Default Monthly WEGC C&R shoot: September 29th

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF WEGC TO COME SHOOT!

Start marking your calendars!

If anyone would like to participate or have have ideas for a fun game lets hear them!

I'll BBQ again for those who want to eat.

Remember this is not only open to C&Rs.

Make sure you copy the attendance list and add your name to it and if you are a member. This helps us make sure we have enough members attending to sponsor the guests. If we don't I'll go to the club to get approval.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, or where this event is held. I see a date, but no time. I'd love to come shoot and meet more folks, but need more info.

The event is at the West End Gun Club

http://www.wegc.org/wordpress/

A lot of people get there by 8:30-9:00am, I don't think there is an official time for this meet.

Hmm, this shoot is the day after the Burro shoot. I might be able to make it.

How much is the range fee for non-members, and what's the rules on magnetic ammo?

i'll bloody well be there! i'll bring all kinds of stuff, perhaps not as much as I did last time, but that depends on if somebody wants to shoot something or what I procure between now and then. I will bring the vz-58, but otherwise, c&r's as I prefer to keep things old. making steel targets too!

We should do a shooting contest like we did the first time. I wasn't able to even hit the paper, but after adjusting the sights on my 3 mosins with an empty shell and a hammer they are pretty accurate now

Same 4 categories again?

Scoped and unscoped mosins
Scoped and unscoped C&R

I'm down. I found that my m38 is much more accurate than my 91/30s. I will also be using my Garand for the non Mosin if we do something.

Put me down as well. I'll shoot an M39 Finn in unscoped Mosin and an M38 Swede in unscoped non-Mosin C&R. I dunno what the competition is, but I'm game

BTW I have a front sight adjustment tool for an M91/30 so I will bring it in case someone needs it.

Since I plan on bringing my SVT-40 to the shoot to test fire for the first time, I might as well bring along my 1917 Remington M1891 Mosin too. I was going to bring my 1942 VKT M39 Finn, but it seems like Beetle Bailey has the Finnish Mosin front covered nicely with his.

Maybe give it a little WD40? WD-40 for an SVT-40?

I've tried soaking the adjustment port in Kroil but it still wouldn't budge. I read somewhere that firing may heat it up enough that it might get "unstuck".

I don't know. We'll have to see at the range.

I don't know. We'll have to see at the range.
Are you saying the gas regulator wont turn? http://i889.photobucket.com/albums/a...chematic-1.jpg

Can you remove the gas cylinder? This holds the regulator in. (I usually loosen the cylinder to adjust the regulator because it can cinch it down.)

When the cylinder is removed the regulator should tap right out. If not, give it a few days soak in kroil, then heat up the valve area with a torch (doesnt have to be red hot, just enough to have the outside area expand a bit) and tap it out towards the rear with a punch. Then clean out the whole thing well.

This area is important to be totally clean and functioning before you shoot it the 1st time.

Hmm, I haven't thought about simply punching it out. Figures a Russian gun would be simple like that. Fortunately, the piston cup isn't stuck to the gas regulator, so I will give this a try. If it doesn't budge, I guess I'll get a propane torch for this purpose and heat it up a little.
