Default Recent NV Permit Holders

Just wondering what the current/recent time line for receiving your Nevada CCW Permit for those who applied this year?

I know the standard time line given is 90-120 days, but I'm wondering what it's actually been running.

THANKS...

It varies widely depending on the issuing agency. Anything from two weeks to close to three months based on what I have seen posted here on Cal Guns.

I can only speak for Washoe Cty -- they're pushing out towards the 100+ day mark on all applications. Mine took 108 days (drop off date to issue date) + 2 for Snail Mail.

There is an ongoing thread over at nevadashooters.com about the "CCW Waiting Game". If you are in the Bay Area, I recommend not going to Washoe or Clark counties. Try for a less-populated county. Elko County, by comparison, is taking 2-3 weeks for applications.

Also, I highly recommend a stop at the Washoe County Shooting Range. It's pretty nice, lots of sub-ranges, friendly folks ("Hey, wanna try out my rifle/pistol/MotherOfZeus .50BMG?!") and a positive attitude (exactly what California lacks).

Applied with Vegas PD on Friday, 5/25. They told me 120 days. Imagine my surprise when it shows up in my mailbox last Saturday, 8/24. 90 days.

Umm. Forgive me for asking, but does Nevada issue CCW permits to California residents?

Most of the states that are not California actually have this thing called a "Non-Resident CCW Permit". It allows people who are not from that state to excercise their fundamental human right to self-defense even though they don't live there. As a California resident, subject to the tyranny of the state, I can understand how hard it is to believe, but it is true.

Yeah, I've got Nevada, Arizona (even you don't need one there, you can carry in places that a non-permittee cannot), Florida and Utah. this gives me 35 states - I have no reason to go there, but I'm not holding out hope that Illinois will have reciprocity during my lifetime.

I was told that in Clark and Washoe Counties, the reason for the delay in the Nevada CCW's was that up until earlier this year, Nevada had reciprocity with Arizona. Lots of the backlog is due to California residents getting their Nevada CCW's.

By the way, the fingerprint place in Vegas is absolutely 1st rate - not to mention all the casino and strip club workers need to get permits there also. There were some amazing sites I tell you.

that's awesome! I applied with Vegas metro in Laughlin, but it still had to go thru HQ in vegas which may add a few days. But, yours is some good news and I will take it.

The wife and I applied for a new license for her and a renewal for me. Over 80 days. Very professional people and helpful. I don't know how the other counties are but Washoe is great.

Do you actually have to deliver to one of those county's personally or can I just mail in the non resident application to the local PD?

For Nevada Non Resident permits do you have to take the training course in the same county you are applying for?

Can anyone recommend some good instructors for Nevada?

Thanks

Yes, apply in the same county you qualified in

I did mine at front sight, was staying in the hotel about a mile from the sheriffs office that I got my permit, so was quite convenient for me

I did mine in douglas county with wayne crow and filed with Douglas county sheriff. It took a few days over 7 weeks. I stayed in Lake Tahoe then took a 45 min drive to Minden to train and submit my application. Call Wayne Crow he is listed on the douglas county approved instructors list cheap too. $80. And the sheriff mail my permit too i didnt have to pick it up.

For Clark County (Las Vegas), it took about 3 months.

I took my concealed carry class/qualifier on Memorial Day at The Gun Store off Tropicana Avenue, and turned in the paperwork on Tuesday at Las Vegas Metro off Cameron.

You apply in the same county where you have your training. The require Livescan so you have to appear in the office at least once. I did it in Pahrump via frontsight so I went to the sheriff's office with my application and received the permit in the mail. You can also submit the application in the mail but would need to pick it up in person.

The folks that take our CCW course at Front Sight and process through Nye County are getting them a bit quicker.
