Default Gunther Guns in Carlsbad

Yes it is true as can be. There is a gun store in Carlsbad.

I heard about it from some fellow calgunners at the Iron Sights meet. So I decided to take a quick trip to see the new store and maybe get a chance to meet the owners. When I walked in I was warmly welcomed by two gentlemen. One gentleman was named Roberto, he was the store manager and then I met Gregg, one of the store owner's (his wife I assume is the other.) They both are very friendly people, Gregg definitely wants to put the customer before all else. And this I can appreciate, for a business should let it's customers speak for itself.

They are well stocked with guns, ammo, and some reloading supplies. I was very shocked to see there stock. A fair selection of glocks, and oter pistols. They had a some revolvers, some Ar's and some .22lr rifles. I did not take a very detailed look for it was a quick trip because I had to get some errends done before I have to go to work tonight. I will see if I can get some pics (provided I get permission) next time I go. This place has to be seen, it is spacious and very clean.

The overall experience was an awesome one. If you are in the Carlsbad area, and wish for some friendly people, actual items in stock, then this is the place to go.

prices were very comparable and they will match to turners as long as it doesn't lose them money. also internet transfers are 50 bucks plus 25 dollar dros.

I had a similarly good experience there as well. Bought a box of 22lr (yup they had it on the shelves both trips!) on my first trip and Jailed a Ruger 10/22 (matched to Turners, thank you!) on my second. I am very new to this but this has got to be my best gun store experience yet.

They are open Tuesday thru Sunday 10 to 6 I believe it is. They are right off Loker Ave. I think it is 2714 Loker Ave. Carlsbad, CA. 92011.
Friendly staff and the prices are compareable to other stores. Like gigglemonkee said they do, do price matching and this is one of the things they started out in telling me. They also said they want to put customers first which is always a big plus. Also I was treated with respect when I first came in. Better than some of the other gun shops I have walked into.

Np. And I assume it is Sam Axe because he is wearing a hawaiian shirt. When he Sam Axe plays Chuck Finley, he wears a suit. But they both share a common value with me. Never waste beer, and anytime is a good time for a drink.

Dropped by and they have guns, rifles, shotguns and ammo. They can't do Single Shot Exemption though which would be nice and useful. Basically waiting to see what happens with that since its scheduled to disappear Jan 1st.

Awesome shop. Great folks there. Went there today and got a brick of .22 ammo for the correct non-gouge price. Impressed by management and helpful friendly customer service. Great experience and will make it difficult to go back to usual spots closer to home

I agree with the other assessments here -- Gunther Guns is a great place to buy guns. They hit the gun shop trifecta -- they have: 1) guns and 2) ammo in stock at reasonable prices and 3) they have great customer service!

Went to check it out on my lunch break and wound up buying a 10/22. Went back again and scored some 22 ammo. Wonder what I will get on my next visit

Stopped by there today, since I was in the area. The place was extremely clean and new looking (I guess they've only been there for 3 weeks or so), with some really chill music playing in the background. There was a lady and younger gentleman working there and they were very pleasant to chat with. They had a laugh when I told them that it was a place that I wouldn't mind taking a lady to. None of that typical gun-store attitude (*ahem* SoCal Guns and American Shooting Center take note). The aforementioned stores are way closer than Gunther Guns, but I would pick the latter any day over them. Happily picked up a brick of .22 and was on my merry way.

They said the Calguns community has treated them very well, so give yourselves a pat on your collective backs, haha. I can't wait to go back when they've filled up their shelves with more stuff, i.e. more things I can spend $$$ on.

Read an article about the folks who opened this shop. They had to fight like hell to get the licenses from the city. Many of the local businesses around them went to bat or them. If they were closer, I'd support them with some purchases. I wish them all the luck in the world.

Yeah. But mine is more of a review and it is in the San Diego chapter sub forum where people local to it will actually see it. So any word out there will help the business. But I thought it should also be in the proper location since it is in carlsbad. Most people who will be going to this store will be north county residents like myself.

Well, just got my Glock 35 into jail on 9/11.
Seemed appropriate given all the things going on today...

Don't think twice about ordering an approved firearm from these guys.

Yep, these guys are good-to-go. I work about 2 buildings from where they opened up and have been by there a few times already. I talked with a younger guy, I think his name was Alex, about anything and everything for about 45 minutes. I believe the other guy there was the owner and he seemed like a real good guy.

I was looking for lr-308 parts when i stopped by but they had only been there for about 2 weeks and said they were still waiting to hear what the customers wanted before they start stocking up their shelves (which they said were also soon to fill up the empty space on the floor) so I only ended up picking up some of that remington 22lr they had stocked. They had a lot of M&P 15's, shotguns, 10/22's, and a ton of glocks. I was told they MIGHT start doing SSE

Check them out if you haven't already, I'll definitely be checking there before anywhere else. From the sounds of it, they worked hard to open up shop in this area so we should support them as much as we can

Thumbs up

I drove up there today to look and to welcome them. Very impressed with the people. Nice sized place, clean and well laid out. Plenty of black guns and shotguns. Nice selection of pistols. Lots of ammunition on the shelf.

They have some powder. Several big bore rifle type powders, Benchmark, and a couple of others that I don't remember what they were for.

I believe their FFL fee to receive mailorder guns is $49.95 + DROS. They seem quite happy to handle the paperwork and had several in process.

They are still in the process of getting their supply chain established so I expect things to only get better there. 8-)

I will be a customer there as soon as my new drivers license shows up in the mail. They have several things I want before the first of the year.

If you're in the market for another Glock, I'd check out Glockstore.com in Kearny Mesa. I bought my G17 there, and it was $50 less than even Turner's (it was $500).

Their website support has sucked (apparently) since the craziness started, but they're really nice people and super helpful if you go in.

I'll have to check out this Gunther Guns.

I stopped by yesterday after picking up a gun from DAS. Talked to Greg, the owner, and he was pretty nice. Yes they have a lot of ammo in stock but it isn't cheap. WWB 100rd Value Pack of 45ACP was $65. They had probably 30 boxes though. Only Caliber they didn't have was 22LR. Guns weren't marked up too bad. They're pretty nice. Greg said he was going for the "Jewelry Store Ambiance for Men". I'll definitely start supporting them since I live about a mile away haha. Probably going to pick up a 10/22 for my daughter from them. They have a pretty big selection of 10/22s there.

Thanks for the tip! I've been craving a 10/22 stainless takedown for about a week, hoping it will go on sale at Turner's. I will probably stop by this place this weekend and pick one up.

The wife and I were in the area and dropped in to check it out. Great customer service and nice clean shop. Good selection of Glocks and some HK usp. I definitely plan on stopping back in when the wife decides on which pistol to go with....so that way I can try the good ol "when u buy more than one its cheaper" line and hope I can walk out with a new pistol myself B-)

Default At last a new local shop

Looks and sounds great I'll drop by tomorrow sunday to see what up....Update: well friendly staff some great pistols ARs and a few $200 shotguns plus a variety of ammo in stock. Store is slightly out of the way and the shop sign is over some kind of costume store but go past the sign and the store is right there say hi to Greg and Alex...well laid out store with room to grow.

Local to the area and stopped by to check it out. Great customer service... None of the gun store attitude everyone knows all too well. New, clean and well stocked shop. Good inventory of guns, ammo and mags!

Downside? Prices aren't great. With Glock Store selling Gen 3s for $499 they are a bit high. I wonder if they will price match Glock Store? No SSE, which I totally understand for a new FFL in a unfriendly city. All the other prices weren't bad, but a little on the high side. However all that being said, I will be picking up something here just to support this store and their presence my city. I'll pay $50 more to not deal with Turners and to thank them for fighting the city of Carlsbad.

The only experience I have with these guys is over email, as I am I afghanaland and headed home. While they aren't the best at answering emails, their emails have always been straight forward and informative. I'd like to assume that since they are so busy, they don't have too much time to answer emails. Either way, I look forward to doing business with them when I get back in a few days.

The family was on a drive and we just happened to find our way there. =)
I spoke to Alex and Greg for about 40 minutes.
The place looks almost too nice to be a gun store.
Greg was super nice to my family and made sure that everyone knew they were welcome. They have Glocks, Sigs, M&P, XD and some other pistols in stock.
It is about 5 blocks from my work, they will be sick of me soon.
