Default Security & Firearms training Academy

Well it's the day after the Baton class I took with SAFTA. I was a little whooped last night I have to say lol. The instructors Steve and Pat were very nice along with the guy that checked me in which was Dave I think? Sorry I never actually asked or looked for a name badge. He was extremely polite and helpful with getting me booked into the class the day before and checked in the day of the class.

I have to say one thing that really blew my mind was the fact that even though there was a gun range right next door I didn't hear any shots or anything. That's freaking amazing imo because I know there was people over the shooting.

Pat was great with the lecture and discussion. Very friendly and helpful. Poor Steve had the chore of trying to teach us the practical side of the Baton. How he teaches lemmings like me with so much patients I have no idea. Not to mention trying to keep his fingers while we wildly flail our batons trying to master a technique lol.

Overall I have to say it was a good day and all of the staff were very patient, courteous and helpful. I would recommend SAFTA to anyone looking for training or even the range which I sadly have to admit I haven't tried yet.

Red face LOL yeah but at a cost.

Only thing I mastered was whacking my arm and my ribs with the side handled baton. I have a bruise from my elbow to my wrist . Honestly the training should be a lot longer but it's not required so /shrug. I got the list of moves so I can google the videos and practice in the mirror. Or you could meet me at a close location .....

1970's 'Police Story' TV drama, Lloyd Bridges walks a Down Town LAPD Beat, and throws his baton skidding it across 40 feet of sidewalk clobbering a fleeing suspect of some kind. I don't remember what the offenses was but he was dressed like a member in the Earth, Wind, and Fire Band. Ask the guys at SFTA to show you how to do that.

The discontinued Taser X12/XREP shotgun projectile had a range of 100 feet!
