Default HK MR556

Just got my HK MR556 out of jail today. This is a temporary set up until the ACOG/RMR and Surefire M900 arrive. But for now I'll have fun with the Leupold HAMR. Can't wait to get the HK MR762 next!

A couple of notes on it. It will take standard GI magazines but not the Gen 2 Magpul ones. Ordered some Gen 3 ones for it. The pistol grip has storage and the buttpad comes off so you can store batteries in it. Also the takedown pins require a tool to remove them. There's a small allen wrench stored in the buttstock for this. You just insert it and the pins come out.

That is cool, how do you like the grip does it feel weird compared to the a2 style?

I actually like it a lot. I have larger hands and the grip is wider than a traditional AR grip so it feels great in my hands. For once I don't think I'll be changing any of the furniture on this gun.

Nice gun, why are they so expensive though? I've seen them in the for sale section and guys are wanting 4k for them. That's as much as the mr762 Don't get me wrong I think it's a nice rifle but wow 4k, and people won't even take them out to shoot, most on here are safe queens. Gun looks good though, all the Hollywood movies use them because they have a solid look to them.

Anyone trying to get $4,000 is just price gouging. The MSRP is $3,295 and I paid $3,000 for mine. I was looking at the SCAR16 ($2,569) and the Bushmaster ACR Enhanced ($2,699)but I liked the HK MR556 the best.

Mine is no safe queen, I picked it up yesterday and today I put 1,000 rounds through it. It's a solid and very accurate rifle.

Feels better and shoots better that my Bushmaster, Colt, Sig Sauer or Core AR-15's. Of course it's also twice the price so it better.

Now that makes great sense, 3k for a rifle of that caliber and that's being used to test and extract the engineering. I see it as a great buy and it went home to the right person. It sure is a good looking rifle, I have never shot piston ar only di in 762 and 556. But I do have time with ak's and a fal that was piston and I liked them very much.

Beautiful Gun, those don't look like the original iron sights though.

Im going the MR762 route, drossing it in about 3 weeks, annoying that iron sights are extra. $$$ would eventually like to get the 556 version if in the future we still can.

Thanks for posting the pic.

YOU bought it! I've since been stalking the store waiting for another to pop up. They were asking ~$4K for the 762 and it recently sold.

Yeah they are not the original sights that came with it, they are Troy HK Style Micro Sights. I knew I was putting optics on the rifle so I decided to go with the Troy flip up sights.

I think my next rifle will be the MR762...I'm sure you will love it.

Ahh yes, Triple A's. This is also a store that was charging $4500.00 for Springfield M1A Scout Squads with synthetic stocks. This was back in February or March, and I asked if he was serious and he said "ya man, well ya know things are hard to find right now." I will never do business there, and I live about 7 minutes away.

AAA got stupid expensive even before the last panic.
Some of their more garden variety handguns are stilk fairly priced but everything else is insane.

Anyways,

looks good OP.
How do you like the HAMR?

Nice rifle. I too was on the dillema bench of which piston platform to purchase. After long try out trials between the SCAR and HK, now I understand why SOCOM chose the SCAR as their all around battle rifle.

Happily the HK MR762 is on it's way for me. Picked it up at Turners. Between the two rifles and the optics I think I just blew my years gun budget.

I like the HAMR a lot. I have an ACOG/RMR too and I do like that a little better. The HAMR has very clear glass I'd say better than the ACOG but there is not a quick release for it yet and I like that feature on the ACOG. This HK will have the ACOG/RMR as soon as it arrives.

That's funny because SOCOM cancelled the SCAR-L order. Also in the IAR competition the USMC chose the HK 416 over the SCAR too.

mk16 was canceled due to budgeting issues.
Need I mention NSW is still buying the mk16?
The platform is very much alive and well

Can I have it please? God these are so damn sexy. I would take one of these over a SCAR any day! I have shot my cousin's SCAR and meh, I don't like it at all. I prefer my AR over the SCAR. And since this is pretty much the same ergos as an AR, it's a WIN!
