I've only tried Netflix and found their selection horrible. I tried with the free trial and switched from streaming to DVD within the first week.

Netflix for older movies and TV shows. Anything new and forget it. As to redbox, you can now get Redbox Instant which is streaming of the new movies. No need to "find the box" anymore.
![]() (I only assume the stream content is the same as the physical DVD rentals.) May be some selection differences.

Do you have an Amazon prime membership? If so the streaming is free on some of their library. What are you going to stream with tv CPU? Do you have a stand alone player?
Found this on the redbox streaming they say catalog is small and no tv shows http://reviews.cnet.com/software/red...-35823293.html Last edited by ebencikiv; 08-19-2013 at 12:27 PM.. |

Just cancelled my Netflix account. I've had Amazon Prime for awhile and the selection of included movies is MUCH better. Newer releases, more of them. Not all movies are included though, you still have to pay for some.

Do PS3 owners have a monthly fee (or yearly) to watch Netflix and such on their devices like the 360 requires (Gold subscription)?

Especially nice if you have a bluray player with a youtube app.

Netflix is not bad, but not great. Hulu Plus stinks because you still have commercials (you would think paying for streaming you'd be commercial free - fat chance). Amazon Prime is also not bad, but not great.
So that's what we have - no Cable or other TV, just Netflix and Amazon Prime (and high-speed cable Internet - but that's a work requirement). I'd be curious to hear what other's have that give more variety. I don't want to spend a lot of money. Speaking of, Netflix is $8/mo, Amazon Prime is $80/year which averages $6.67/mo. So, not bad to get our TV for $14.67. Plus, with having Amazon Prime, we get free 2-day shipping for many Amazon purchases. We buy 5-20 things from Amazon a month just because it is so convenient and usually as cheap if not cheaper than buying in person (plus we don't have to deal with driving to the store and gas). But I'll be the first to admit, I've been very tempted to just get one of the USENET+VPN feeds for $30-40 and building my own media server to download all the shows I want. I haven't gone that route, but the fact that I cannot get what I want a la carte for a fair price ($30-40/mo) makes me want to do so. Quote:
Examples include: Xfinity - requires CableTV sub. HBO Go , requires some sort of TV sub (cable, Dish, etc.) with HBO service, etc. Sony's Video Unlimited isn't a sub, just a PPV delivery platform. Last edited by Jason95357; 08-19-2013 at 10:23 PM.. |

Therefore the answer is obvious, though I wouldn't recommend using it: ![]() Now if you want something legit, probably Netflix.

Netflix is awesome for TV series. It's basically a back catalogue service.
We have an Apple TV in each room, for renting movies you can not beat it, plus Netflix always there... you can conceivably turn of the cable unless you are into sports and crappy news channels. Hulu Plus sucks, as someone mentioned... adverts. I haven't tried Amazon Prime, despite already having it because I am lazy and with current tech it should be easier than it is to put the media I want on any TV screen in the house. Why would I watch something on an computer screen at my desk, or on a tablet or laptop when I have a huge *** TV right in front of my couch and another in the bedroom? First Apple TV I bought... best $100 I have spent.

I don't live on these sites watching movies but from my limited experience I've found there is no best.
I found Netflix had a lot of movies and TV series but no current releases (both movies and TV). I found Hula to have the current TV releases if you missed an episode and didn't record it which is nice. Amazon seemed to be a nice blend of both. I'm an Amazon Prime member which includes so many benefits, that's the way I would go.
