Default Nickel Boron BCG for LR-308 @$225 at Shadow Ops

Saw this on Slickguns:

http://www.shadowopsweaponry.com/cat...-in-stock.aspx

Seems like a good deal. Any feedback on this company Shadow Ops Weaponry?

Not that it matters, it's still a good price, but your link shows it's $236.

Yelp had some one saying they are very slow to ship, but we will see because I just ordered one.

Thanks for the tip!

would seem like a big risk to buy a no-name Bcg ...but to each his own.

Yeah, but for the price, not a bad deal. Though I will probably maintain a regular BCG for piece of mind

pretty much everyone starts as a "no name". they are pretty slow to ship, but it does state that it takes 18 days on their website.

Yea, but no names mean who knows who made it.

I bought something on Gunbroker from them and they shipped incredibly fast. They seem like a pretty big store on CO with an active facebook page. Give them a call to chat with them?

Well, I bought one from 762 Industries.. and they shipped fast.. and now they are:

www.762industries.com

So, it's nice to help out the new companies, but you are taking a bit of a risk..

I just decided to be done with it and buy a genuine DPMS unit.

FWIW, AIM looks to be selling the 762 Industries inventory leftovers labeled as a Ranier Arms Match Grade BCG.

So let me ask you overall where you happy with it? Any machining marks at all? How's the bolt look overall? Function any issues?

I was/am looking for something a little more smoother. I guess the BCG in my OBR spoiled me. I was wondering if the fit and finish on Shadow Ops is the same as the 762 Industries or is it better? Just doing a little research and asking questions before I put the money in a JP low mass carrier, or will the Shadow Ops fit the bill enough

I have 2 on order from Shadow Ops, they have a up to 18 days shipping delay. I will give a report when I receive. I have my fingers crossed but my hopes won't we dashed if I receive something that is equitable with what is being sold unused at a discount on the secondary market.

I ordered one on 9/2 and I've been pestering them with phone calls/emails all month. Finally got my shipping notice today, should have it in hand soon. No range report for a few months though, I won't have my build done for quite some time - LR308's are on a whole other financial level from AR-15's lol

By the way, here is another forum with more pictures and discussion on these BCG's

I have two of the 7.62 industries bcgs and both function perfect it my lr-308. One thing I will say is the nickel boron coating just doesn't hold up on the bottom where it meets the mag. Started flaking but other than that it has functioned pretty good so far. Was kinda bummed that they went out of business but at least my product works..

Just ordered one of these last night and emailed this morning to confirm the ship date. I got a response within an hour from Alan from Shadow ops and he advised that mine shipped out today! Already have tracking from usps. These guys seem to have respectable customer service! Ill report back when it arrives.

Please do. Depending on how those look I will be placing an order for one. If it sucks then I will order one of the BCG from Rubber City. Those are looking pretty nice!

Picked up my BCG at the post office today. This is my first 308 build so I don't have anything to compare it to but the machining and finish on it looks excellent. Only a few areas where I can see any machining marks - on the top flat in front of the gas key and the inside walls in the front and rear. Gas Key looks to be properly staked. Firing pin retaining pin required a punch and mallot the first time I took it out, it will most likely loosen up after some usage. Gas-rings on the bolt seem to seal up with the interior walls of the carrier as they should. Won't know how it performs for sure until I finish out the build in a few months but here's some pictures in the mean time. And it came with a 2 dollar bill (), and a tube of MilTec-1 lube in the box

It took a total of 31 days from the day i ordered it to the day it showed up at my post office

Edit: I just noticed something that seems a little strange to me. When comparing the 308 cam pin to the 223 cam pin, the firing pin through hole is drilled through parallel to the longer side of the top. For example, when I insert the cam pin on the 223 BCG, I would insert the cam pin rotate it 90 degrees and slip the firing pin through. On the 308, I insert the cam pin and the firing pin slips in without rotating the cam pin 90 degrees. Not sure if this would affect any functioning of the BCG but I thought it was worth noting. Look at last picture in post #30 below.

If this is a 762 industries BCG and if you are prepared clean up whatever machining burrs remain and if you dont care if the coating flakes off, then go for it.

Sorry to bump this old thread but I thought I would give an update on my experience with this BCG.

Earlier this week, I orded a FA Criterion Heavy 308 Barrel and decided to have them headspace the bolt to the barrel so I wouldn't have to invest in the gauges and other tools required. So I sent them my Shadow Ops bolt and they received it yesterday. I received a call today from FA and they said that the bolt I sent is out of spec and they could not guarantee that the bolt and barrel combo would work reliably even after headspacing was cleared.

Apparently, this bolt has a chamfer around the firing pin hole on the bolt face, which should not be there. And also the gentleman at FA told me that the bolt lugs are not cut correctly either. So I'm about $2.5k into my Mega Maten build and I'm still wondering why I skimped on such a critical component.

To make a long story short, this BCG is going back and I'm buying a DPMS or JP BCG. If you have any leads on either of these, I would appreciate a heads up

Good update, a friend of mine (wiser) told me to be careful with stuff made from small start up company's.

I presume 762industries dumped all there stock onto Shadow Ops, Rainier, and others, then closed there business out.

yep, AIM was peddling them and I immediately returned it after seeing the same rough machining, defects and packaging as a buddy who ordered one from 762 right before the 762 douchebags went belly up.

I got one of the ones from AIM as well. I was not impressed. Thank god I am going a different direction on this 308. Sending it out to get finished properly!

Are the ones at Rainier also 762industries? I hope not, I just ordered one.
