I could do Sundays as well I work the normal Monday-Friday. I just hope it won't fall on the second weekend of November, but I'd be able to bring a couple more calgunners if on a weekend.

Oct 15 is the usual date to open for vehicle access. Subject to Hollister BLM field office saying its not a fire hazard after a dry spring. Last couple of years they've opened on time.

Do I need an off-road/4WD vehicle to get to Panoche? I have a 2WD.

We generally have a family shoot day in mid november after the initial rush is over, but before the long thanksgiving weekend. We bring a trailer to haul guns, target stsnds, picnic table, shooting tsbles, shade canopies and the American flag. Makes a full day with tge drive, set-up, lunch, and tear-down/cleanup.

If it's on the weekend of the 15th and 16th I should be able to bring the family. I'd bring a couple ad15s,10/22, glock19, and ar10 that I just finished. May I ask some assistance in sighting in some optics if time permits?

Looks to be about a 3 1/2 hour drive for me but I'd consider making a day of it too. Don't need a lot of room for the .45 but may need some longer range areas for this new member of the family.

I'd also bring the Winchester 94 in .30/.30 and the 10/22.

If the timing is right, I may join with +2. But can't commit to a 320 mile roundtrip just yet. Are we any closer to setting dates?

Ace, 10/15 is a Tuesday which normally is no problem for me. But its my kids
6th Birthday.
I think now that we know the date it will be opening we can better plan a date.
There is plenty of range to shoot all Calibers, space is not an issue.

If you have a 2wd and its dry you should be fine, as long as you have some clearance between you and the ground.

Alright, as its drawing closer we need to start firming up a date. Lets all throw a few dates around and see what we can come up with. Any day works for me except October 15.

It's usually open starting October 15th, closing April 15th, but I emailed the BLM LEO that patrols the area for his insight into closing/opening given the Fed Slimdown currently in effect.

I've been to Panoche alot... trust me there is NO way you are going to hike it in past the gate... it's like 3-4 miles to the shooting area, all uphill.

oh, if you go, please please clean up after yourselves. Many of us do, just making sure newcomers aware that BLM has the auth to close access if people start acting like it's their personal garbage dumping ground.

No more shooting water bottles, ranger told me bowling pins are in a grey area, he said target stand with paper and cardboard targets and anything that's ment to be shot is ok just as swinging steel plates, got stopped twice today by 2 different rangers and was given the rules 2 different times in 30 mins, wasn't doing anything wrong I guess they where bored

I've been up there once for work at the FAA radio tower but could easily find my way there again. Hopefully this Feds shutdown won't hinder this planned event.

WTH? Hell people would shoot old TV's, microwaves anything up there. Really taken back by the no water bottle shooting. This is what's happen when they install an outhouse at the top.

I would freeze my water jugs to make them last longer, there easy to clean up and it helps water plants, but the electronic crap is somewhat annoying, I kid you not yesterday while shooting found close to 10-15 hard drives stuffed into squirl holes in the ground so we picked those up, and some dumb *** shot up a damn fire extinguisher and the powder was everywhere, clean what we could fit in my little car wish I could of got more. I don't think water bottles are bad but I see where it could become a problem when people don't pick them up

Well then ill bring some cardboard and stands, I'm game for whatever its been to long my babies are sad I haven't taken them out!
It seems like cleanup is a huge issue so if take a few minutes at the end of the day to clean up more than we brought I think that would be good.

Is everyone ok with Oct 19 or 20 or Mid Nov 16 - 17 Let me know.

Removed invite, other participating parties wanted this event as invitation only. I was unaware of this. My apologies.

I might be up for this shoot if the bills don’t get to bad in Nov (Nov 17) cause I would like to buy some more ammo.
Had a great time beginning of Oct shooting near Carson City, went through a lot of ammo. Haven’t gone to Panoche shooting yet, been thinking about trying it out.
I can bring my AR15, Saiga AK, Ruger GSR, Escort S/A shotgun, M&P 45, XD sc 9mm and Beretta Storm 9mm. Only got a 100 rds or so of 223, 9mm, 45 and less of the 7.62x39, Shotgun shells and only 2 boxes of 308 so I’m hoping I can get some more soon unless like I said bills catch up with me.
But yea this would seem like a good time to check out Panoche.
How early were you guys thinking of getting there?

Last LEO contact I had was a BLM ranger who advised that clays were ok. I told him that we were planning on picking up pieces larger than a quarter, and he said they were biodegradable, and to not worry about it. We picked them up anyway in the interest if leaving the area cleaner than we found it. This was last year, so things may have changed since then.

Hey All,
The date is near, I'm getting pretty pumped.
Lets get a final tally on who's going, what you're bringing.

I'm in, possibly +2, the possible is Marine Infantry and LEO.
Hk .40
Remington 700 .308 Police
Mossberg Flex
Ar-15.

Ill bring some hot dogs, the fixings and a bbq as well as some water. Probably other food I usually can't stop myself in Costco, if only they sold ammo.
