Some beautiful rifles, folks...I just picked up my first Mosin today (1942 Izhevsk M38) and I'm totally enamored of her. I will post pics when I have a decent camera to take them with.

"Tanya". 1942 Tula refurb from Big 5. All stamped matching after refurb including bayonet. Had to replace the peeling shellac. Fixed the sling.

Are these the rifles that Big 5 use to sell for $90 bucks? If so I should have bought one when they had them. This was 3 years ago, I didn't know any better.

If your talking about the M91/59 I think that's the year were they became available in bunch. But the hex receivers where very few of the lot that I got mine when Allan's armory was selling them and immediately got sold out.

There are still out there and affordable.

My M38. Just stock. Really nice! I like the stock and the bolt is easier on this one.

Nope- that's the date of the stock. Looks like a Tula-made "1930" to me. The "CCCP" Stamp was on Izhevsk-made stocks and the letters were around a circle like this:
