Default CAFIGHT4LIBERTY Citizen Call to Action - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This Citizen Action ended mid-August.
Currently, we are running email campaigns to committee members and the governor:

https://www.firearmspolicy.org/the-i...2014/askbrown/

You can sign up for alerts with http://www.nraila.org/

Look up Penny's Dad on this forum and get his email action alerts.

Quote:
This effort is organized by the California Fight For Liberty Coalition: GRAA-Calfornia, COGR, CalGuns Sports Shooting Association, and Calguns.

California Fight For Liberty Coalition is organizing Walk-In Campaigns in anticipation to the legislator’s returning from summer break.

To participate:
Find out who your legislators are:

http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

Then, contact the Walk-In Campaign organizers at:

cagunwalkin@gmail.com

Provide your name, contact number, your legislative district(s) and the names of your legislators.

This will be a polite, civil citizen action. Speak and dress appropriately. We will go in, ask to speak with either our rep or whoever is in charge at that office and express our thoughts on the issues.

We will need at least 3 to 5 people from each legislative district (Assembly & Senate) to go into the regional/local offices of their legislators and polite lodge our opposition to the pending bills.

You must be a constituent of the given legislator.

We will provide a letter to print, sign and submit to your legislator, as well as a how-to tutorial for the visit.

This is one more step in letting the legislators know how we the people want them to vote. More than anything, this is to send another message that we are organizing and that their votes will have consequences in 2014.

We will be calm and succinct and occupy at least 30 minutes of their time. The more bodies crowd their offices, the better.

If they are rude, or refuse to meet with us, we will note this and stage follow-up pickets of their offices.

We can always go outside and picket their offices immediately. Materials to be provided for that eventuality upon contact.

This effort is organized by the California Fight For Liberty Coalition: GRAA-Calfornia, COGR, CalGuns Sports Shooting Association, and Calguns.

Can you use an address of a house in the neighborhood that has been there for a few years?

WOW I've seen more activity in a morgue, than this post is getting. For an issue where most members are involved in this, weather sport/ profession, or other.

There is interest, but not interested... Suppose to happen on the 12th Aug,

Good luck to you...

BUT.... to Dano34657's point: TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW - even non-CalGunners. It's time to push back. If we don't do it, nobody will do it for us.... And there is no word of the cavalry coming around the bend. It's down to US.

When you ask people to volunteer and support - Have multiple ways for them to sign up.

Your constant "send an email like we want" is annoying.

Carry on.....

This post helps you understand that the link & information needed is in the 2A Amendments forum. Just trying to direct people there, & bring some awareness, that's all.

If I was able to to set up these links for you here I would have done just that... But since it was done else where, I'm just bring attention to it...

I'm in. Senate district 14 (Berryhill) and Assembly district 5 (Bigelow). Emails sent, and I'm signed up. It would be nice to have other people from my area though, I'm the only one at the moment.

Had visit with my local state senator and assemblyman reps at local Eureka 2nd District office. They were both very receptive and we talked for about an hour this afternoon. I was able to outline and discuss many pieces of anti gun bills and the effect these would have on the citizens, economy and even environment if these bills pass.
My assemblyman is nearly termed out in but I mentioned that voting in favor of gun control may hurt my senator when re-election time comes soon.

Walk-in Report:

I went to Fran Pavley's office in Calabasas (27th District), and was joined by another CalGunner.

I turned in my own signed letter, along with two more from my coworkers, to Steve Lane "Constituent Caseworker" at the office.

Steve invited us back to chat, we explained our position, and what we were there for. That we were regular guys, constituents, and gun owners who believe that the pile of bills on the table is beyond onerous, and unconstitutional.

Steve didn't want to explore the constitution angle. He seemed to be clinging to the "militia" argument, and that 2A was being seen through a conservative lens by SCOTUS (I personally got the impression he was suggesting that a more progressive SCOTUS would reverse Heller/McDonnald and that would be A-OK with him).

However he DID suggest that if we strongly believe that the legislation listed in our letters was blatantly unconstitutional, and that they would be tied up and eventually lose in court, to blitz Gov. Brown with financial impact assessments of lawsuits.

Again with the "hit em in the pocketbook" he mentioned that our recent "windfall" $$ might get leaned on by the Fed and pushed at our prison overcrowding problem, combined with the bullet train costs... we might make Brown see the light, and appeal to his "fiscal conservatism"

Steve was polite. He talked with us for at least 30 minutes and mostly listened. He did state that he disagreed, and when my partner jokingly suggested that Steve should be a gun owner, he visibly wigged out a little (it was in the context of large dogs, and defense of home). I respect that he could come out and say that he didn't agree with us.

He also suggested that we get more face time and not to rely on NRA lobbying efforts if we want our "movement" to succeed. We replied, "yah, that's why we're here", and his response was LOTS more Face-to-Face. That if we are serious GET OUT THERE and be seen/heard/shake-hands with the congressionals.

Pavley is my Senator as well. I signed up at the link above. Was this coordinated through the link above? I'm more than happy to participate if this happens again.

Coordinated via closed-group on phacebook, I think Penny's Dad set things up initially and he has coordinators helping set up the stuff. Awesome folks donating time and organizing.
